I’ve come to the idea that it is the prince, Escalus who caused or atleast could’ve stopped these deaths from ever starting to unfold. He was so anonymous of every problem happening and never took charge of the situation until it concluded. He had to ask of benvolio”who began this bloody fray” when Mercutio and Tybalt were dead. He never had men prepared of any casualties that could happen or any men on patrol so no fight broke out in the first place.

But, one major character in Shakespeare's play had many opportunities to change the fate of the two star-crossed lovers. Friar Lawrence, throughout the play Friar had known almost the whole time what had been going on. Both Romeo and Juliet had confided in him and he had many chances to stop them both from taking their own live and the lives of others in some cases. There are many characters in the story that may have had a chance to save them but the Friar was the one who had many and let them pass by. Friar Lawrence could have done an extreme amount more to save the lives of two teenagers believed to have their fate written in the stars.

Some things in Shakespeare’s “Romeo And Juliet” can be attributed to stars, however most of the play’s problems are caused by the inane actions of the characters. Romeo would have been perfectly fine had he not interfered in Mercutio and Tybalt’s fight. In retrospect, had Mercutio just went home the entire conflict of this tragic story would have turned out much differently. The moral of the story? Listen to dear Benvolio. Some things can be attributed to stars such as Romeo taking his own life moments before Juliet awoke from her unnatural death nap, but these unfortunate events could have been avoided if people had just thought rationally before acting. This is the true tragedy of the play.

The whole situation really was Romeo and Juliets fault, but because they are both dead, the punishment must be handed down to those who are at fault. While it was much more and much bigger than any of the characters in the play, the two that deserve the most blame are the two family heads.

There are tragedies everywhere and everytime, with these tragedies you have to blame someone or something for it. In Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare they’d blame fate instead of themselves because they could have been responsible for the disaster they caused.
