Animal testing should not be banned for many apparent reasons. It is obvious that animal testing has improved the lives of many around the world and contributed valuable and life-saving information to us. Living a longer and healthier life was made possible since the human body is vulnerable to many diseases, viruses, and bacterias and we found many cures to them, like polio. According to the article Animal Research Benefits on https://www.amprogress.org there are more than 9,000 children diagnosed with AIDS every year and 1,350 children die every day because of it. We have not yet found a cure for this disease yet, but animal testing has helped contributed to finding a medicine that can help lessen the effects of it and the spread of it. The products go through tests before it is on the shelves in the stores. According to the article Companies that STILL Test on Animals by the group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), L'Oreal, Estee Lauder, Procter & Gamble, Clorox, Johnson & Johnson, S.C. Johnson, Colgate-Palmolive, Reckitt Benckiser, Church & Dwight, Unilever, Dial/Henkel, Aveeno, Covergirl, and etc. all test their products on animals before releasing it. Companies do this to defend themselves when being sued by consumers. “It’s a legal requirement in the UK that all new drugs (not just cancer drugs) are tested in animals before they’re given to patients, to make sure that they’re safe to use (Scott, 2011).” For example, S.C. Johnson sells baby soap. If it was used on your child and it did not go through animal testing, we would not know the affects of the soap and allergies.
