This I Believe I believe that people need to learn how to not be self-entitled. While this is a problem normally uncommon among the populace, it is widely variable depending on where you look. Of course, while this kind of behavior is seen in kids, it’s usually looked past by many because they’re kids. I mean, why are kids stupid? Because they’re kids. But if the person in question is nearly an adult - or is an adult? THAT’S when you have a real problem. Normally, this kind of behavior is simply annoying to have to deal with, but it is in fact seriously detrimental to one’s growth, and the growth of those around them. It’s even more appalling to me when I have to deal with some sort of “princess” - which I absolutely hate with passion - and
Most children and parents are so-called “addicted” to their smartphones, tablets, and computers. Our world is constantly changing, by using less paper and more screens. Is this really such a bad thing? Children can learn from the internet and actually become smarter because of it. The internet has the ability to benefit all ages, but especially children. The world is transforming into a digital place, which allows children to grow and learn, find answers in seconds, and keep up with current events around the world.
There is nothing wrong with someone putting time aside for themselves and making sure that they are okay. In fact, one may end up with poor mental health if they didn’t take such action. My problem is whenever someone thinks that others owe them; when someone only cares for themselves and acts as if they are the only one that matters. Society seems to agree with me, as many people utter phrases such as "You're selfish" or "The world doesn't revolve around you"! The problem is that many say those phrases to the wrong people. Too many times, someone tries to make things better for themselves and is ridiculed for it, by people who think that they should be doing something else. Again, there is nothing wrong with one taking time out for themselves, because after all their life is, in fact, their life. No one knows what's "best for them" or "what they should be doing" besides them, yet too many people think that it's their job to put someone "in their place" and tell them what they should be doing. In actuality, the people who are giving their harsh lesson on selfishness are performing an act of selfishness themselves, by thinking that their opinions of someone else's life (and actions) matter more that of the actual person they are commenting on.. It's unfortunate to say, but too many people are tricked into thinking that
Eventually every person will have to realize that being envious of one another makes you ignorant, and that everyone has imperfections and no one is perfect but everyone at one point must stop comparing themselves to everyone and accept themselves for who they are.

Participation trophies are a highly debated topic among childrens sports. Many people beleive it is unessarcary, while others beleive it boosts self-esteem to non-confident young athletes. Participation Trophies should not be handed out because kids will learn that if the just give a little effort towards accomplishing something they will get rewarded.
People in need don’t need our petty. Feeling the petty for the poor will neither end their suffering nor help them. There are many ways for helping and supporting them. My mother is one of the most known charity program holders in our country.
Transitioning from the middle class, the upper class seems to belittle or discriminate against the lower and middle class. Individuals from this seems to have a sense of pride or egotism. According to class action, “everyone is placed at disadvantage when they have a limited interaction with their world, no matter how much money or material wealth they have acquired” (Class Action, 2017). It also states that “many owning-class people remain largely aware of their economic privilege, which can inhibit them from satisfying their basic human desire to experience an authentic life” (Class
This becomes a negative with in our civilization and needs to be stopped. The top one percent need to be more responsible for their actions and the toll this day takes on civilization. Many know its hurting but instead of influencing the problem they need to instead help become or work towards the action of fixing
Does the phrase, “Kids will be kids.” take away the deviousness of the deeds done by kids? Or does the phrase simply protect the kids, if an adult did the same thing, from the consequences that it would have? One could use this phrase to describe Alex from “A Clockwork Orange”. Kids will go around and do something that may not be completely ethical because they are curios. “Curiosity killed the cat” is another phrase that can be easily applied to kids. A majority of the time a kid does not do something because they want to inflict as much damage as possible. Kids want to go around and discover the world. At a young age there is not much that a kid has learned or discovered. Young kids usually shadow their parents everywhere that they go. With
What might you do to change this attitude or behavior? Identify at least three possible changes you could make.
As I get older, I am understanding the value and the importance of tending to your needs first, as long as it is rational. In order to support another to the best of my ability and in my full capacity, I have to also take care of myself. Even when selfishness is denounced publicly, many are still selfish in their private everyday actions that do not benefit others. For example, in the article “The Ethics of Benign Selfishness” by Tibor R. Machan, he states that we are “normally, routinely and benignly selfish” (12). When we awake in the morning we proceed to groom and take care of our needs before we attend to the needs of others (Machan 12).
A lot of kids and even adults aren't maturing in a healthy way in fact many people aren't maturing at all. Maturity is when a person can deal with things on there own, handle relationships emotionally and physically, and be able to communicate healthy. Maturity, is something everyone goes through many kids go through it in their teen years. In the world we live in that statement has changed. Kids are starting to mature a lot quicker because of all the new gadgets we have now days. While this seems pretty great, could it actually be worse for kids? Kids these days know almost everything about cyberspace, because cells in their body disconnect with brain cells, and kids are being exposed to technology at such a young age.
In the articles, “Is it tough being a kid? Try being a president’s kid” by Darlene Superville, and, “What’s it like to be a kid in the White House? Kids have a lot of ideas” by Caitlin Gibson, both articles show different perspectives on how kids feel about life in the White House. I believe that the article, “Is it tough being a kid? Try being a president’s kid” conveys the life of a kid living in the White House more because it shows the truth of how it really feels living in a beautiful house. Kids believe that good things happen in the White House. The article talks about Barron Trump being made fun of by a “Saturday Night Live” writer. This was portrayed when the article stated, “Katie Rich the ‘SNL’ writer who tweeted about Barron
The wealthy and powerful are known as the bourgeoisie. They control the money in the society by owning the means of production. This allows them to be able to manipulate politics, government, education, art, and media. The bourgeoisie also show off their possessions which reflects their wealth. The bourgeoisie uses this to keep the lower classes beneath them. Whenever a person from the lower classes gain something, the upper class try to find something bigger and better to keep the oppressed. It seems that it is easy to keep their power since they always put the lower classes beneath them, however, the bourgeoisie do struggle to obtain it after gaining it. Sometimes people get jealous of other powerful people and want to take it from them like Claudius does when he admits “...for which I did the murder-/ My crown, mine own ambition, and my
Kids have the better deal. One reason is they can get away with things like not cleaning their room, an example would be that a child is told to clean his room and he says he's still playing with his toys, so his parents might say, well just make your bed then. Another reason is children have very little responsbilities, like school, homework, chores and taking care of their pet if they have one, most children get paid for their chores and grades, an example would be a kid gets all B's and one A, his parents might give him $20, or however many they give him or just $1 for every A or B. The final reason is children get to play all the time, and they get to take care of pets and sleep in, an example would be, a child asks his parents for 2 chinchillas
