1. Why did you decide to become a teacher?
There are a large number of teachers in my life, nearly all my aunts and a large part of my social circle are teachers, instructors, and professors, and some of my role models happen to be teachers as well. While discussing my thoughts and feelings on what I should do for my second career, and where I should do it, with my family and friends, I was asked, “why not teach?” I have a passion for working with people and genuinely care about their success. One of my classmates told me that she thought I would excel at being a teacher since I have the ability to clearly and comprehensibly explain concepts, how to complete assignments in a way that maximizes learning, and because she found my enthusiasm for our course topics motivating. I am also an avid traveller; I have travelled through over 15 countries and have lived in two countries outside of Canada/North America. In reflecting on what I should do next, and where I should do it, it seems that combining teaching and travelling into my next career phase is a natural next step.
2. Why do you want to become a teacher?
I have dedicated my life to public service as an activist and social worker, and while I am transitioning into a second career, I do not want to stray from my commitment to helping others. I find that teaching is another form of public service that I am drawn to, as it is a role that supports people in reaching their goals.
3. If a student said she thought you were
You might ask, “Why would you even want to be a teacher?” Well, I surveyed a current teacher and was genuinely pleased with the responses that I received. I asked her what the main reason was on why she chose to pursue teaching, and she responded that she likes being a role
When I think about the reasons why I want to teach one reason always comes to mind. That look on the child’s face when they first see you each day. They are so happy to be there. They know that I will always be there for them. I offer them a sincere greeting and a caring environment. We joke, play, and learn together, all while making a unique connection. I love that the students teach me just as much as I will be teaching them. They teach me to live simple and stop worrying so much.
While interviewing the teacher I am working with throughout my practicum, Mrs. Reynolds, I have learned a lot about her teaching background. She went to college at Eastern Illinois University. At first, she thought that she wanted to become a News Anchor. She loved the idea of speaking to an audience. Within her second year of college at Eastern, she decided that she really did not want to be a News Anchor anymore due to her struggling through all the advanced math classes that were required for that degree. She had many long talks with her mom about what career path would be the best choice for her. Her mom, being a teacher herself, convinced her that she should get her teaching degree. Mrs. Reynolds’ mom reminded her of the many benefits of becoming a teacher including having summers off work, and being able to spend more time with her future children. Although Mrs. Reynolds still wasn’t convinced that was what she wanted to do the rest of her life, she went on to get her teaching degree
Looking back at the experience I had in observing, I still have the determination to inspire others through a career in teaching. Teaching is a very diverse job that requires many skills and a lot of patience. It is important for a teacher to be able to maintain a healthy and professional relationship with their pupils, develop lesson plans that keep the attention of a majority of the students, make the atmosphere of the classroom inviting, and be a welcoming person capable of standing up in front of the class to
For me, the decision to become a teacher is more of a way of life than a career. I have always loved school, practicing at being school marm from a young age, and voraciously devouring every shred of education offered me in my career as a student. If it were possible, I would be a student for the rest of my life. And then I still would not have learned enough. As a teacher, I hope to instill this appetite for knowledge in secondary students. They are, after all, the future leaders of the world, and what better place to expand the minds of the generations to come than here in Appalachia where education programs, especially the sciences, which I plan to teach, are poorly funded and children’s dreams
Going into the teaching profession has been my passion for quite some time now. Although teaching can have many different stereotypes and misconceptions, I still choose to continue towards this career. Every job has it’s own stereotypes and misconceptions. I currently work at a school, which has offered me a lot of on the job training for my future career. My current job has allowed me to see the different stereotypes and misconceptions that come along with the teaching career field. I am fortunate to already be working in my career field so I can prepare for the future stereotypes and misconceptions when I am a teacher of my own classroom.
Why did I decide to be a teacher? One day as I was working as a cashier a first grader was telling me about her school and said their are a lot of insentives for going to her school. At first I thought this little girl could not possiblely know what the word insentives mean, so I ask her what insenives are there for going to your school and she told me that if she reads so many books they get prizes and treats. I was blown away not only did this girl know what insentives means but used it in a sentence and gave examples. It was that that moment I relized I wanted to teach children. In my school I felt like I didn't learn enough. I was labled slow and I feel I was gaven up on.
People think teaching has been a calling all my life. The truth is I never considered teaching as a career choice while growing up. Coming from a strict Asian background, my parents have always pushed for careers in the medical or business field. Being young and uninformed, I pursued the business route without putting too much thought into my decision. I spent my four years of undergrad crunching numbers, analyzing data, and finding ways to maximize profit on a spreadsheet. That was fun and nonetheless challenging, but it did not provide a sense of service that I longed for and did not even know it existed until I lacked it in my daily internship at an accounting company. That was when I felt an itch to do “something” that makes a clear, tangible difference in the lives of others. At the time I had no idea what that “something” was or could possibly be. I sought out different career options, from nursing to ultrasound to sociology.
There are many reasons why I believe being a teacher is the right job for me. First, I love working with people and have had different jobs that have given me much experience in the field.I have always admired the “cool” teachers that I have had, and they have always made some sort of impact in my life. I enjoy the company of others and believe that teachers have the capability to really teach students valuable skills that will help them in life.
I chose this career because I believe that I would like this career and I think I would do very well as my friends and teachers say. I expect to learn more things in life, education, and myself. I say life because I would be doing something I like and teaching kids and telling them about the adult life so when they get to that point in their life, majority would be ready. I say education because I would be teaching and I can learn something from others and the children as well. I say myself because I think it would help me be a better and encouraging person. I used the internet as my source. I used different websites throughout the career research. In my education and training for this teaching career, I need a few important things, like to finish high school with a diploma. I need to enroll in college, finish college, go at

My life has been greatly influenced by family members who are educators: my mother is a third grade teacher, my father an elementary school principal, my sister a high school English teacher, and my brother who obtains a degree in agricultural education. This has instilled in me the desire to become, like them, a good educator but is defiantly not the only reason for my decision to peruse teaching as an occupation. There are several reasons why I have chose to teach, but three in particular: to make a difference in anyone’s life that I can, help a child who is struggling more than just academically, and simply because teaching remains all I have ever wanted to do since I was just a little
My professional background has varied, but the consistent component has been service to others. I obtain a heart for helping others, especially children. My dream was to become a classroom teacher. With my experience in leading classrooms in private religious settings, I knew I could excel as a teacher. I had been groomed for it since a young age. As a child, I repeatedly convinced teachers to give me extra pages
Here is why I have chosen in my teaching career to take care of the little ones. There are so many unique and special things about them and who they are. When I thought about whom I will be teaching I thought of the babies. For they are our future. Then you have toddlers who are just starting to become aware of their world. After I thought of preschoolers who need to learn how to love and care for others. Following are the kindergarteners who can do anything they put their mind too. Teaching these kids is the reason for me being. I have come to know kids are smart, sweet, and helpful. Children are all different and that’s the world. If we all were the same, then life would be uninteresting. It would be just day after day of the same thing. As you know kids change and nothing stay the same with them. Each child has their personality and culture that best represent them. There is a difference in children and their ages. Each age goes through something different. You have infants who are being born. A birth of a baby can have many unique situations. For example, Max being born premature. Asia says mom at ten months for the first time. Infants also grow throughout these ages of 1 month to a 1-year-old. They start out small but over the year they get bigger. Learning motor skills at 2 months. Infants brain still developing. Learning words such as mom, dad, cat, and dog. Starting to understand somewhat the things around them. Infants are smarter than we think. They may not get it,
I have always aspired to teach in all my encounters in life. Whether it’d be my friends or co-workers, I have always made an effort to share my knowledge with others in order to help them. I have always held high expectations for myself, and in turn, my loved ones so that they would be better equipped in life. I always encourage people in my life to go out and seek knowledge, as this is the tool most necessary in being a successfully self-sufficient individual. My personal high standards and passion for learning have always propelled me into academic atmospheres and would be a great asset and motivational factor in a teaching position. Given the opportunity to share knowledge and more captivatingly, to learn together, I feel that my
