One of the greatest reasons why I love Purdue is its mission to create a diverse campus. Diversity create a better learning environment for students, because it allows for different viewpoints and solutions to problems. Learning in a diverse environment creates a more open mindset when problem solving, encouraging people to start thinking outside of the box more often— which is crucial when solving real-world problems. It also creates a better community, allowing people to learn about different cultures and traditions. Purdue will allow me to become more culturally aware, more open-minded, and a better
UMD is ranked #195 in ethnic diversity nationwide with a student body composition that is far above the national average (http://www.collegefactual.com/colleges/university-of-maryland-college-park/student-life/diversity/). Its student body consists of students from anywhere you could think of in the world. I have met people from Zimbabwe, England, to even my native country, Vietnam. I have made many friends and learned so many things that I thought I would never be able to if not for being at Maryland. From language to
There are many valuable aspects to living in a diverse community, but the most valuable to me is the wide range of perspectives on world problems, and local situations. With a more diverse student body, People will bring new insights and ideas that others may not have thought of. It can also educate people about cultures, traditions, and backgrounds other than my own. This can be very helpful because with the knowledge of another culture,
Overall, Texas A&M offers a great opportunity for me. Trying to get into this university alone will give me the opportunity to get better and try my hardest. I also love the fact that this school has a 20:1 student faculty ratio. I have always went to a small student faculty ratio school and I want to continue it. Last but not least, the computer science program is perfect for me. I can pursue my dream to have a job that is related with computer
Ever since my sister attended Troy University and told me about all the superior activities Troy has to offer, I have wanted to attend this college. Troy has an outstanding nursing program, and that is the career field I plan on going into prior graduation. I have always wanted to specialize in neonatal nursing with sick babies. Troy also has some awesome sororities at their school I am interested in being a part of. Alpha Gamma Delta is the sorority I am most interested in. They strive to achieve academic excellence and they help out their school as much as they can. Lastly, Troy has a very beautiful, clean, and safe campus. Feeling safe while walking around your college is a very important factor to me.
I chose NDSU because I feel like I was pretty well acquainted with the campus during my time in high school. Each summer, for FFA, my chapter, along with others from across the state, spent a week here competing in different agricultural competitions. Also, I talked with alumni from this nursing program, and they all said it was set up very well, and also put them on a track to getting a good job afterwards. When I came for a tour earlier this spring, I got to hear a speech from the Dean of nursing, and I just sort of felt like this was the right place. On a side note, I like being here because of the agricultural side of NDSU as well, even if I’m not necessarily going into a field pertaining to it. It seems more like home to me, when the person next to me, going into Vet Tech, rides horse as much as I did.
Some of these benefits include: promoting the understanding of different cultures, allowing students to be part of an environment where ethnic, racial, and geographic stereotypes are broken down, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for students of all races where they don’t feel like spokespersons for their race. Student diversity in a public University allows students to experience other cultures, and to be exposed to a variety of different viewpoints and ideas. By interacting with individuals of all backgrounds, students would be better prepared to face the obstacles that arise with the diverse workforce. In educating the leaders of America, UT believes providing a diverse learning environment is beneficial for nonminority and minority students. UT believes that a critical mass of students from under-represented racial groups is necessary to promote these educational benefits. Lastly, part of UT’s educational mission is to provide exceptional educational opportunities along with contributing to the advancement of society. UT states that the educational benefits that come from student diversity have a huge impact on the educational mission it’s seeking to accomplish. In order to keep its educational promise to current and future students UT states it needs a diverse student
The University of North Carolina Wilmington gives a welcoming and home-like feeling to all who attend. Once I step foot on campus, it reminds me of the privilege I have of staying home. It has always been the college I've wanted to attend. The small and diverse community is what keeps me here in Wilmington, North Carolina and UNCW fulfills my dreams of not leaving. I find the mixture of races and gender to be essential in a community or school. It defines a person including their culture and allows everyone to be different from one another. It proves that we can all get along and work together to create greater changes as a whole; UNCW has that variety. However, not only does the diverse environment attract me, but so does the beautiful campus.
Diversity is more than a racial term. While we are at a school that has a high concentration of nursing and engineering majors, we also live in a city that thrives on the arts. This encourages both mindsets to coexist together in a symbiotic relationship, both benefiting each other. Diversity also plays into a cultural aspect. Different cultures come together at the University of Louisiana to create an overall culture that focuses on the aspect of family. While there is a strong sense of Cajun culture, as embraced by the city of Lafayette and of the university as a whole, this does not drown a sense of pride of different cultures existing together, encouraging individuality in a community context.
I choose to attend the University of Florida for the culture of community that exists on the campus. The University of Florida has always been a school that wants its students to succeed, but what is the most interesting aspect is that the students push each other together to achieve their goals. We live in a society where it is a "Man vs Man" world and that only one can succeed. Here at the University of Florida, we challenge those social norms and try to create a pathway that fits for everyone. Here, we just don't have dreams, because as gators, we make those dreams plans and those plans into reality. Being able to accomplish or do something that makes your life fulfilling is what made me want to come to the University of Florida and continue to give back to the place that gave me the chance to improve myself and help others improve too.
In my opinion, UW-Green Bay is a perfect fit for me because of my personal skills and traits. I have always been a natural leader among my peers, and I have always been willing to help anyone in need. I respect every person I see with the same respect that I would prefer back, and I never give up when times get tough. I love both watching and playing athletics, meeting new people and creating new relationships, and thinking critically when problems ever arise. Because all the things I just listed are what make me, “me,” and I believe all these parts of me fit the mission statement for UW-Green Bay: with the goal to serve every student with an unforgettable educational experience and, “to think critically and address complex issues in a multicultural and evolving world.” I plan to one day become a medical doctor, in which I work my hardest every day to save lives and help people with the integrity, knowledge, and citizenship traits that make up my personality, traits that I believe will push my fellow students to become great students and even better people, overall making UW-Green Bay even more desireable and enriching then it already is. UW-Green Bay students are respectful, have integrity, are leaders of the workforce, and everything that I strive to become, which is why I believe definitely, “fit,” this
I selected Governors State University because I earned my Bachelors there and because of the small classes and the diversity of the school. The professors there help you through the courses and are dedicated to their students. I am captivated about succeeding, but even more passionate about Counseling. GSU has started me towards my career and I am positive it will lead me to where I belong in my field. As a student, I am an active participant in academic and clubs. My priority has always been to make good grades and learn in school. Since I was little I always been that person who helped others along their way.
I grew up with Illinois State in my blood, because my uncle is a graduate from there, and he loves taking me there to visit and teach me more about the wonderful college. My uncle has grown to become a very respectable and successful man from studying at Illinois State. This connection makes me want to strive to be just like him. While studying at Illinois State, I would like to receive my master’s degree to give me a better chance of a high paying job. Illinois State is an excellent school to pursue my major and that they have the best chance of making me a successful human being in this world after college.
Jack, you should attend Notre Dame because it is a small high school, it is a college preparatory school, and it is a Catholic school.
I never expected I would be applying to Purdue, due to the nonresident tuition my family and I would struggle to pay, until I realized it was possible for me to obtain financial aid and scholarships. Purdue has one of the best engineering facilities and I know if I work hard enough, this will be a great opportunity to pursue my degree and create friendships along the way. The main reason for living on campus is to get the real college experience, including independence and responsibility. With some close friends along the way, I’m positive this could be a great experience.
It respects the diversity and personality of students and encourages exchange with other students. The second reason is the university is located geographically and educationally at a good place. I know Philadelphia is a historically important city with a great level of art and culture, which gives a lot of opportunities for undergraduates to experience diverse cultures as well as a wealth of diversity beyond the school program. Thirdly, I am impressed with its faculty and curriculum for electrical engineering
