Abortion has been one of the most popular and argumentative topics that has still yet to be settled. Ultimately the question we can ask when trying to solve this issue is whether or not pregnant women should have the right to kill an unborn baby. Abortion is the ending of a pregnancy before birth takes place and is a moral wrong. Can we as a society call ourselves human if we allow the deaths of unborn babies to take place? Those who take the side of pro-choice or as also known as pro-abortion often use statements concerning life, humanity, human rights and freedom to support their claims. I don't think abortions should be legalized. Most of us don't think of fetuses as persons.

The legality of abortions in all states has not fully been resolved and continues to be a controversial issue. No one is really for abortion; people just believe that the woman should have a choice. Whether abortions are legal or illegal, they will still always be performed. If they are kept legal, women get to keep their rights and also protect their lives. Pro-choice persons view abortion as murder. They view an unborn child as a human with rights to life. They argue that taking a human life living outside the uterus is considered murder, so killing an embryo or fetus, an unborn child, is also murder.

Women that choose a medical abortion are willing to undergo a surgical abortion if the first one fails. The process involves bleeding, often heavy just like a period, that must be differentiated from hemorrhage. Ann was date-raped when she was only 17 years old and found out she was pregnant. Her parents pressured her into marrying her current boyfriend, or the date-rapist, to prevent family embarrassment and keep him out of jail. Ann’s boyfriend was told that beating her would cause a therapeutic abortion, so Ann was subjected to horrid treatment including throwing her against walls and choking her. When Ann left her boyfriend, she was not allowed to get an abortion, and her baby was born with extreme brain damage. She says “A simple legal abortion would have spared me so much anguish, so much torment and suffering… What was gained by laws that kept me pregnant against my will? Nothing, except the rapist got away with his crime”(Ann’s Story 1). Abortion is a highly debated topic which involves the termination of a pregnancy to best suit a mother’s situation. A fetus is comprised of sperm and eggs, which are most of the time disposed of naturally. A fetus, however is not a human being with rights until it is outside of the womb. Abortions must remain legal because women should be able to have control of what they do with their bodies, there is a difference between religion/ beliefs and law, and abortion is inevitable so keeping it legal would be safer.

There are so many different views in opinions when it comes to the topic of abortion. There is the religious point that it is wrong to have an abortion because of the ten commandment that states “Thou shall not kill.” All have heard this one whether atheist or religious. Two people come into play, pro-life and pro-choice supporters. If someone is pro-life, they don’t agree with abortions. However, if someone is pro-choice, they like the idea of a women being able to choose. These two people are like oil and water; they don’t mix well. Abortions should be illegal in the United States because innocent babies are being killed, babies are individuals, and babies should have rights to their own bodies.

Abortion has always been a controversial topic in the United States for decades. Abortion is like taking the life of someone without their permission so it is technically “murder”. There is no such thing as an unwanted child, millions of families in the United States are always willing to adopt. On the other hand, there are circumstances where a woman can barely care and sustain herself so chances are that she will not be able to take care of her child. Or when a rape occurs, having an abortion is not as bad as when a woman has sex without protection and knows she has the chance to get pregnant.

Abortion is very harmful to women both physically and emotionally, it can easily to cause infection or hemorrhaging, and may also cause infertility, or lifelong regret.

Imagine a woman was raped and later became pregnant. Shouldn 't she have the right to abort the child or should she be forced to deliver? Put yourself in her shoes. Can you imagine the pain she might feel every time she looks at the child? Should she be forced to endure this? Women should be allowed to have abortions under circumstances such as these.

Almost all abortions occur during the first trimester when the fetus cannot live outside of the mother’s body. People who are pro-choice believe that “at birth, a baby is a human life. At conception, it 's something, perhaps, but it 's not really a human life (McDowell).” In other words when the baby has a heart beat it is not a human life. Or when the baby is kicking inside the mother’s womb it is not a human life. The child is not a human life until it is outside of the mother’s body. In the case of rape or incest, forcing a woman made pregnant by this violent act would possibly cause further psychological harm to the victim (Lowen). More often than not the woman who was sexually assaulted is too afraid to speak up against her attacker.

Whether or not an abortion should be legal has been argued for years. It has become political and even personal at times. People discuss morality and parent rights, but do they ever truly consider the rights of the unborn? Everybody has his opinion on abortions. Some people think they are wrong and some people don’t find anything wrong with them. Abortion is wrong and should be banned.
