Why should school start late? Well school should start late because of several reasons. On the first paragraph I’m going to be talking about how kids fall asleep when it’s that early in the morning. On the second paragraph I’m going to explain how kids will remember better since its not as early. The third paragraph I’m going to talking about is how kids always are distracted and not learning. My argument is about why schools should start later. I think schools should start later because students will be more focused and be able to get better sleep. The administration is against this because they think we should be in school longer but this also helps teachers because students won’t fall asleep in class. The administration is complaining that the schools test scores are low but maybe it’s because not everyone gets enough sleep. It would help teachers a lot because not only will you have enough sleep but you’ll also have energy and make it through the day.

All across America kids have been waking early up for school since 1852. It’s exhausting for students to wake up so early in the morning. In almost every first class of the day, many students are half asleep. There are so many reasons for why this is which doesn’t include the laziness of students, and there is no reason for school not to have a later start. So, schools should start later in the day.
Beep! Beep! Beep! Oh no, I’m an hour late! How many times has this happened to you? Now your entire day is off schedule. To eliminate the troublesome issue concerning sleep, schools should shift their start times so they begin later in the morning, and end later in the afternoon. Doing so would result in increased cognitive ability and function as students and staff will sleep longer, and students will have improved memory and learn more efficiently.
Teenagers need between 8 ½ and 9 ½ hours of sleep each night. With all of the homework they get every day and how early they have to get up in the morning it’s hard for teenagers to get the recommended amount of sleep each night. Teenagers don’t get enough sleep because school starts too early.
Almost every day high school students are waking up around six o’clock in the morning to get ready for school, some even earlier than that. Nearly every morning students are waking up without adequate sleep. If sleep is one of the most essential needs of the body in order to grow and develop, shouldn’t we be more aware of how much it affects students everyday performance? The ways in which students are affected by sleep-deprivation is precisely why school needs to start later.
One of the reasons that school should be started later is because it does not give growing teens enough time to sleep. Sleep researcher, Wendy Troxel, who spoke on TED, says that high school aged kids’ sleep cycles do no start until 11 p.m and do not end until 8 a.m. This means that whenever students’ alarms go off from anywhere around 5-7:30 a.m, it simply does not
