A friend is a companion who is there throughout the many hardships life throws at us. They are supportive of all the decisions you make and they can always be depended on, but most importantly a friend is someone who accepts you for who you are in all of your forms. Friends play a big role in life because they are always there for you. Without friends we would feel lonely. Loneliness is a major theme portrayed throughout this novel as Walton, Victor and the creature are all very lonely. In Mary Shelley's novel, Frankenstein, the creature is a friend, not a foe.

What is a friend? A friend is someone who will always tell you the truth. They are the there for you through the hard times and the easy times. They will never leave your side because they will understand you. A friend is someone you can count on to do anything with. They will never hurt you and will always have something to say. They wouldn't keep secrets from you, they would be the first ones to say if something is wrong. They will be more like your brother or sister to you because they will know you very well. Most important, a friend is someone you will love to be around because they brighten your day. An example of a good friend is someone that can hurt you by telling you the truth. Friendship is a bond between two people. Friendship is being by your friend’s side when you are needed and when you are not. To be a friend, you have to be trustworthy so your friend can tell you anything. You have to be honest and have to be able to tell your friend the truth no matter the consequences. There are many types of friendships. The basic of all types of friendships are the good friends and the bad friends.Bad friends are the type that aren’t there for you and sometimes even the person talking behind your back. Good friends are the real friends who are always there for you no matter what and the ones by your side, protecting you. An example of a good friend can be found in the novella, ”Of Mice and Men,” by John Steinbeck. George and Lennie, the main characters , we're friends and after reading the novella , I believe overall George was a good friend to Lennie.

A friend is someone who you experience life with and bond through the prosperous times and also the hardships. A friend is someone who truly understands the person you are, there the person that understands the emotions you express, they don’t give up on you no matter the struggles you face.
