Introduction
Vietnam is experiencing a rapid and significant structural shift of its economy away from agriculture, forestry and fisheries towards industrialization. This economic growth has brought significant benefits to the people of Vietnam. Income and education have increased, while poverty has substantially declined. However, natural resources have been severely depleted and environmental quality has declined due to the rise in pollution levels. http://icem.com.au/documents/envassessment/wb_cea/WB_CEA.pdf Figure 1 demonstrates that Vietnam is one of the highest ranked countries in the world in terms of pollution index. In general, industrial enterprises in Vietnam have a poor environmental track record. Many use old equipment which is less efficient and more polluting. In addition, several are without systems to control and treat wastewater. http://icem.com.au/documents/envassessment/wb_cea/WB_CEA.pdf Many of these plants do not comply with the country’s environmental regulations and do not have the necessary technology available for pollution control. Although the Government has previously introduced policies for pollution prevention and control, their implementation is slow and additional remedies for pollution prevention and cleanup are needed. http://icem.com.au/documents/envassessment/wb_cea/WB_CEA.pdf
The pulp and paper-making industry is responsible for significant environmental pollution that is affecting
Pollution is one of the most concerning topics to talk about in today's modern world. It acts as a poison for anything that lives and breathes; it could toxify water, air, land, humans, and animals, and is not to be taken lightly.
Air pollution is generally any substance that people introduce into the atmosphere that has damaging effects on living things and the environment.(www.nationalgeographic.com/environment/global-warming/pollution/) There are many causes, effects and many reasons like the environment, public health, and any other reasons. Air pollution is harmful for our present and future lives and should be avoided at all costs.
Pollution is a major problem for all of us. People need to recognize this situation so we can start making a difference to this problem. In order
Industrialization, good thing? Jeffrey Liu Hist 152 31200 “Industrialization refers to a process that transformed agrarian and handicraft-centered economies into economies distinguished by industry and machine manufacture. ”(Traditions & Encounters) Due to industrialization, cities had supported urbanization and migration, and job opportunities were increasing.
Pollution is a big problem in the United States because it causes all sorts and has a negative effect on the American population as it could lead to people getting sick at a higher rate it’ll affect climate in the United States including the risk of natural disasters happening at a higher rate in the United States. Changes in all this can change the way we live. If we don’t do something about it can affect future. Pollution has indeed been causing lots of damage to environment as we know it in many different ways. Environmental pollution we can prevent all this if we act now.
Collier asserts that the poorest states are in need of rapid economic growth which creates tension between poverty reduction and the perversion of nature. This is most evident in China where their desire to grow economically has come at the price of pollution. While China has grown exponentially economically and have reduced poverty, this growth is not sustainable due to their negligence of the environment. The level of pollution in major cities has hurt the Chinese economy because individuals are refusing to do business there due to health concerns. This effects Chinese businesses and their tourism industry. More times than not, states will choose economic growth, however, in the long run this choice will negatively impact their economy.
Agriculture is the second most leading cause of pollution (jaiswal). With that much pollution one may wonder how it is happening. One may also wonder what america can do to fix agricultural pollution. America has put our land and farmers into some very questionable situations with questionable practices.
Among current environmental issues, pollution is of major importance in terms of the impact on people’s health and their living and working conditions regardless of the origin or source of pollutants. The indiscriminate discharge of untreated wastewater, improper disposal of solid waste and air pollution pose great risks to public health and cause significant welfare losses. The Philippine Pulp and Paper Industry though played a major role in the economic recovery program is one of the major
“According to the article in the website factanddetails.com, in 2003, Vietnam produced an estimated 30.7 million cubic meters of wood. Production of sawn wood was a more modest 2,950 cubic meters.” In 1992, in order to solve the forest depletion problem, Vietnam set a ban on the export of logs and raw timber. In 1997, the ban was expanded widely to all timber products except wooden artifacts. During the 1990s, Vietnam began to reclaim land for forests with a tree-planting program.”The reason why Vietnam implemented such ban is because Vietnam has many challenges such as high population growth, increasing demand for food, and unprompted migration. Especially in sensitive economic areas where agricultural production is profitable, natural forests have been imposed and converted into agricultural land. The size and quality of the forests has been rejected unabated, directly threatening the lives of people in the mountainous areas and cause a variety of other impacts. About 100 000 hectares of forests are lost every year.
Air and water pollution is one of the biggest problems the environment faces today. It is one of the highest leading cause of death. Air and water pollution has been affecting the environment for many years causing many diseases among people especially children. I will study and examine the early childhood growth between two countries which are Australia and Tanzania. I will discuss how clean and polluted their air and water is for each country. Their access to clean water. I will also explain the effects that can occur when water is contaminated. How children are affected when they don 't have access to primary essentials and how each country and their environment and living condition might threatened a child 's life.
The other problem closely related to industrialization is problem of big cities. The problem of air pollution increases in the bigger cities because mnozstvo of cars, buses, and trucks. During the traffic jams all kind of pollutants are released into the air, and then people who live near roads have to breath this “dirty” air.
Air is an indispensable part of human, animal and plant lives. Without it, no organisms would be able to survive on Earth (Reference, 2017). Due to excessive human activities, air pollution has become a detrimental worldwide issue in current days (Sciencing, 2017). However, scientists have found new chemicals that can assist in improving the air quality (Phys.org, 2017). Moreover, humans are able to adopt many methods to help decrease the severity of contamination released into the earth’s atmosphere. This investigation is linked to ‘application and limitation’ in ‘science as a Human Endeavour’.
In Bandung Indonesia, the water pollution is a very big deal, and so is the air pollution. The Citarum river is the most polluted river in the world. Covering an area of around 13,000 square kilometers, the river provides 80% of surface water to Jakarta’s water supply, 5% of water needed for irrigation of rice farms and to over 2,000 industrial factories in the area. It supports over 30 million residents for agricultural, domestic and personal use. The building of over 200 textile factories near the river has caused serious effects to the river’s health. A report has stated that factory waste in the river has affected 2300 acres of rice fields with heavy metal contamination, costing economic losses of over 866 million dollars over 20 years’ worth of pollution. The river has become very important as a source of water for 25 million people who are spread across nine counties and three cities in West Java they are Bandung Regency, Karawang, Purwakarta Regency, Cianjur, Bandung, Cimahi and Bekasi. It is also a water source for 15 million people who live along the riverbanks. The huge impact of this river is due to its vast watershed that reaches 6.614 kilometers square. By utilizing the river, about 420 thousand hectares of rice fields in West Java, especially in the coastal areas of the North, can be flowed by water through irrigation networks and reservoirs.
The last great source of pollution lays in the businesses. Although not common, businesses have been known to dump their waste products into streams, lakes, and rivers. This may seem like a relatively small occurrence that really is not your concern, but you're wrong. Each time one of these companies pollutes there are horrible consequences to pay. Mutations, destroyed ecosystems, and human death have all occurred as a direct result of illegal dumping. It contaminates our drinking water and soil. It causes entire communities of humans (not to mention animals) to move on to new places not to return for at least a century. The pollutants dumped by industry are so concentrated that a single barrel can destroy an entire lake's ecosystem. Not only do companies dump chemicals, but also hot water. This hot water kills most life it comes into contact with, but also causes an overgrowth
Pollution has become a major issue over the years because it contaminates the Earth’s environment and affects human health. While some environmental pollution is a result of natural causes such as volcanic eruptions, most is caused by human activities. The increase of various types of pollution has made cancer pollutant more prevalent among the people, raising the risk of getting cancer. After being exposed to theses pollutants, the effects may be immediate or delayed. Some of the delayed effects, due to the exposure, can go unnoticed for many years. Another major issue that pollution creates is the tremendous cost for preventing and cleaning it up. However, we can not regulate the pollutants to the extent where there are no more possible
