There are a lot of sources of support that I can access and many different ways that I can help myself when developing my practice. A good starting point is the yearly appraisal or 2-monthly supervision. This will help me to identify areas of my practice that need to be developed and to plan to use opportunities for training and development.
1.1 Identify the beliefs and values on which person-centred thinking and planning is based Person-centred thinking is taking or considering the individual as being at the centre of the whole process. The Service User (SU) is involved in the whole process from start to finish. He/she will be asked which people are important to them and family and friends will form a circle of support for them, this will help to enable that SU to feel that he/she is part of the process. Part of the process will be to have regular reviews and again, the SU will be part
One important role massage therapist has, is to make the client feel comfortable. The more experience you have within this field, the more confident the therapist would be during a massage session. The idea of the client feeling safe, emotional and/or psychologically, is the a way to receive an effective session (Porcino,2014). The more the client feels complacent, the more the client will be willing to return. Also if the client feels safe, the number of lawsuits would decrease. The American Massage Therapy Association’s Rules of Ethics(2) states that practitioners shall be truthful in advertising and marketing, and refrain from misrepresenting his or her services, charges for services, credentials, training, experience, ability or results

My own model is crafted from another model or guideline I learned about in my undergraduate program here at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). It involved eight steps and resonated with me because it was very simple, yet very effective. I have frequently used these steps in my two jobs outside of school as a PSR/BST worker in the community and as a graduate assistant at the PRACTICE. The first and easiest step I use is identifying the problem(s). The second step is to identify and brainstorm the potential issues involved. Third, would be looking at the ethical code or any guidelines that may be involved. Fourth, is to consider any laws and regulations involved. The fifth guideline is to seek any consultation or supervision if it is possible at that time. Sixth, is to brainstorm possible courses of action alone or with a supervisor or if unsure with a supervisor. Seventh, is to enumerate the consequences of the various decisions or on other words look at the pros and cons of this decision. And the eighth and final guideline, is to come to a final decision by taking the best course of action at that time. I believe that this model is a good starting point for moving towards and developing my own hermeneutic model.
There are a variety of places to seek employment if the decision is to work for someone else. Many chiropractors and physical therapists also house a massage therapist as another source of healing, as do many hospitals, sports medicine clinics, and nursing homes. Or if pleasure is more your style than healing, there are many sports clubs, day spas, resorts, hotels, beauty and hair salons, as well as cruise ships that hire massage therapists to expand their accommodations to guests and clients. If you are into sports, now days there are also many sports teams that use massage therapists to increase players’ performance. Increased performance is also going into the business world; many corporations are staffing massage therapists because relaxation reduces stress and headaches. When these physical negatives are reduced, more work gets accomplished with fewer complaints.
