Japan's Attack on Pearl Harbour In December 1941, Pearl Harbour was attacked by the Japanese. It was the consequence of a series of events which brought tension between Japan and America to boiling point. Japan was a country growing in power and stature and America soon came to realise that this growth could prove a threat to them. During World War II in 1941, the Japanese intended to invade the Philippines trying to get their Oil and rubber. But since the Americans were such good allies with the Philippines they felt like they had to do something about the situation. The Japanese wanted and America to stay out of the situation and so they bombed Pearl Harbor, this way they had a chance to advance their way into Malaya without any disturbance.
