I am interested in an internship in the news department at WSB-TV. I am currently a sophomore at Savannah State University, majoring in mass communications with a concentration in online journalism.
I have been enchanted by WSB-TV since I first begin an interest in journalism. Knowing that WSB-TV has been the number one source for news in Atlanta is not what kept me coming back. What kept me coming back was that WBS-TV seeks the truth and reports it and they treat their subjects as human beings. I would love to be a part of a news station that promotes real journalistic values.
My previous work experience as reporter for my school's paper, Tiger’s Roar have provided me with a strong base of communication knowledge and helped me learn how
Joining the newspaper discourse community was one of the greatest achievements in my high school career and that was only possible by gaining intellect about the community, securing my place on the team by proving myself, and by continuing to learn from my experiences.

Experiencing hardships and my resilience to overcome them is the main reason I chose to pursue a Master’s of Social Work (MSW) degree. My familiarity with asking for resources, as a former foster youth, a number of my interactions involved social workers. I utilized resources as a transition aged youth; and I believe it was those same resources that kept me focused on my future and school. I became homeless at eighteen years of age and it was transitional housing, through The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) that gave me hope and direction.
As a graduate student in School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University, I have acquired so many skills ranging from corporate communications, public relations, brand communications, advertising, Search Engine Marketing (SEM), advanced writing, public speaking, just to mention a few.
First and foremost - my life is dedicated to the service of others. Through my time serving as Parkwood Beta President and the State President of the North Carolina Beta Club, I have understood the importance of a servant’s heart. Moreover, I have had the great opportunity of serving on the Executive Board of the PTSO for a few years now and served as the student liaison between the PTSO and the school. I had the honor of assisting with the Parkwood Pride 5K,
My desire to be an osteopathic physician came after attending an OMM session during my gap years as a research fellow at the NIH. This experience contributed to my interest in osteopathic medicine, as I was intrigued by the musculoskeletal manipulation techniques, and deeply appreciated the hands-on, holistic approach to patient care. I feel strongly that training as an osteopath, will prove invaluable in my career as I work deliver quality treatment to underserved communities.
I am applying to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, because it is a large school with outstanding credentials, with a strong community and lots of school spirit. This is exactly what I am looking for for in my college environment. I want a large school population where I can meet new people every day, get involved in many activities, and where I can make connections and build relationships with my professors. I also look forward to living in snow again - I moved from Denmark to California a few years ago, and I miss the winter weather!
My writing skills have allowed me to communicate effectively with colleagues, vendors, and project stakeholders. While working at the District, I have written many technology reports, design guides, implementation guidelines and strategies, and infrastructure recommendation reports. These documents have been used to make many decisive technology decisions for the district over the years. Although not required of me, my extensive knowledge of District infrastructure has led me to present to the School Board on several occasions. My oral communication skills have allowed me to rise to the occasion to present technological ideas to district leadership. My involvement in a joint powers arrangement between the District and the City means I am one of the main points of communication between the two entities making communicating effectively crucial.
I have excellent formal communication skills. As a volunteer tutor for immigrant high-school students, I used creative approaches to teach abstract concepts. In addition, I acted as an intermediary by seeking feedback from the students and reflecting these suggestions to the program coordinator to improve the program. I was also the Vice President of Public Relations in a local Toastmasters club. In this role, I not only
Throughout my federal career at the Library of Congress, I have held various positions that require me to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds, such as members of Congress, company stakeholders, high ranking executives and the general public often with varied areas of expertise and educational levels. As a result of my educational and professional experience I have learned that strong communication skills both written and oral are essential tools needed to achieve success both personally and professionally and will assist with advancement of the organization.
Im specifically interested in the WYN program because my dream job and goal is to become a Registered Nurse. The WYN program helps high school students like me prepare for college nursing careers and other related careers. What caught my eye was the fact that it offers a one-week residential program. I've never been part of a residential program but its something id like to experience. In school I was part of the cycling club which ended in November and im looking forward to join cross country or track.
The learning goal ‘Communications Capabilities’ requires “students … to prepare and present well-organized and effective reports on business issues using appropriate supportive technologies” (cite sprott learning). Over the course of the month of January, I have experienced different events that have enhanced my learning in this area. These events fall under the first, third, and fourth learning objectives of Communications Capabilities.
Communication is a necessity when you are working almost any job. When you are working with the public, the people in a community you must be able to not only communicate your own point
Personally, learning how to exchange information appropriately using both verbal and nonverbal forms between the messenger and the receiver will increase my aptitude to overcome communication barriers. Communication has evolved over the years with smarter technological resources for networking globally such as social media, digital apps, virtual communications and the “cloud” a place to store all business information that is easily accessible in the palm of your hands, any time of the day. Although the evolution of communication has changed in the 21st century of business today, the most practical way to connect with others is in a social setting is by sharing human experiences through personal narratives which help to facilitate discussions.
Journaling is a way to improve one’s language. It has been studied that writing has a clear connection to speaking. Over the course of the last six journals, I have noticed that the level of my interpersonal competence has strongly improved. McCornack states that interpersonal communication competence is evaluated by one’s “ability to communicate consistently in appropriate, effective, and ethical ways” (G-6). Therefore, when one has competence, he/she is able to choose what type of communication is best suited for any given situation. I have seen my interpersonal competence grow through the journal in my emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and communication skills.
