PARAGRAPH DEVELOPMENT
The English paragraph can be divided into three sections: INTRODUCTION, BODY, and CONCLUSION. The INTRODUCTION briefly states the content of the paragraph and enables a reader to establish his expectation of what is to come. THE BODY is the main part of the paragraph, which is developed sequentially. THE CONCLUSION, the writer summarizes what he has already discussed in the main part and finishes his presentation of the idea. The following paragraph is an example.

Men work shorter hours and less vigorously in a hot climate. They cannot play hard either. They tire easily- They can relax by reading, by sipping cool drinks, or by listening to soothing music. They must try to conserve their energy. The wisest ones learn to respect the demands of Nature. (Friend 1971:43)

Would you like chocolate chip cookies or Snickerdoodles? A point by point comparison and contrast blends the similarities and differences equivalent to the snickerdoodle. The block distinctly shows the similarities and then the differences similar to the chocolate chip cookie. Body paragraphs should have a first sentence that is a level one sentence backing up the thesis with key terms and they should also show transition. In the book, “Expressways writing scenarios” chapter 14 Comparison and Contrast by Kathleen McWhorter gives an overview of comparing and contrasting an essay structure. To compare and contrast one can brainstorm and make two columns one compare that is similarities and the second contrast that is the differences. By listing them into two categories, it will make it easier for one to link these two. Also to help one is to make point of comparison and contrast which puts the details of the subjects into groups. Pointing out the characteristics and the features of the subjects. The two ways to organize paragraphs one can use the subject-by-subject or point by point methods. Each professional discipline has a responsibility to identify concepts that provide a general description of the discipline. It is these concepts that comprise the profession’s metaparadigm (Fawcett, 1984). Much of the philosophy and theory of nursing stems from the work of Florence Nightingale. The diaries, letters, and books that she left behind containing her statements and beliefs have been fundamental to the development of the concepts comprising the nursing metaparadigm (Selanders, 2010). Fawcett’s (1984) stated there was a general consensus among scholars that the concepts of nursing were person, environment, health, and nursing.

This would not be incorrect to say that any or all of these ways that the word was brought to life is incorrect but, according to the book, there was “a more excellent way” to communicate to the men of all ages through prophecy. God chose to communicate in a more permanent fashion and that is through a written record. Written records were all about precision, permanence, objectivity, and dissemination. Precision was more along the lines of “for a thought to be apprehended and expressed in writing, it must have been clearly understood by its author” (p.164). Permanence is “a thought or expression preserved rather than lost though lapse of memory of thought into other realms” (p. 165). What I love about this is that, written words stimulates the readers mind and stirs up his imagination and allows the reader to personally relate the word to their life. Objectivity’s primary focus is to make the writing more geared towards attempting to eliminate misinterpretation and
The New Testament is an anthology of twenty-seven ancient writings that describe the life of Jesus Christ and the beginning of the Christian Church. This anthology was not written by just one person, but rather, has several authors, most of whom are known and some of whom are not distinctly known. All of these writings are believed to have been written in the first and second centuries AD from roughly 50AD to 125AD(class notes). The New Testament was mainly written in Greek with some small bits of Aramaic (class notes), but has since been translated into various other languages. This group of writings has been used as both a theological and historical document, while there are no clear lines distinguishing the two. It becomes apparent in studying the New Testament that it is a group of texts discussing Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and the origin and spread of Christianity while including a heavy influence of the societies of the authors.
