SPL Group is into mining, agricultural-based and forest-based products, supplying wood, coal, carbon black, tendu leaves, tobacco extracts, honey, herbal, tree-barks (such as cinnamon) and opiates to intermediaries who make cigars, cigarettes, toothpowder, anti-psychotic drugs, etc. The group firmly believes in the ‘Triple Bottom Line’ of 3Ps, creating value for all the stakeholders; Planet, People and then Profits.

SPL Group is committed to developing its business towards ecological, social and economic sustainability. All of these are recognized as shared responsibilities within the Group, enabling the continuous improvement of its operations.The company has initiated a multi-pronged approach to CSR within the organization.The ultimate objective is to see that each business decision takes into account its social impact and accordingly plans an intervention to mitigate the impacts arising out of that decision. It is equally important to ascertain that every activity done under CSR makes a socially responsible business sense. Also inherent to this model is active partnership with NGO’s in helping themfulfil their social responsibility. As per the directives in Section 135 and Schedule VII of the Companies Act, 2013 SPL Group has constituted a CSR Committee of the Board.

The Group has also partnered with Rotary Clubs, Cancer Society of India, Alcoholics Anonymous, Self-help Groups, etc. for spreading awareness and managing the CSR Funds appropriately. The Group is actively engaged in social investments and also runs a rural hospital.

As of now the CSR programs of the group are carried out at the following levels 

·         Communities: Integrated Tribal Community Development programmes with communities living in the periphery of theirfarms and forest land.

·         Employee Volunteer Programme: employees are encouraged to volunteer time to work on social issues. 

·         Workplace: Cancer, HIV/AIDS, reptile-bite, alcoholism prevention with employees, tribal, truckers andtransporters.  

The SPL Group spends a part of its net profit amounting to several hundred crores of rupees on CSR spend through multivarious activities.
