far Homebase, Halfords and Selecta Tyre have established themselves
there. In the autumn of 2008, Marks & Spencer applied for permission for
a change of use for one of the empty units, so that it can open a Marks
& Spencer Simply Food outlet. The proposal has been met with widely
differing views from various stakeholders. Many local shoppers welcome
the news as it increases the choice of shops, whereas some of the
independent local retailers, which include three butchers, a fishmonger, a
greengrocer, a delicatessen and several florists, have different views.
The business park is on land that once was home to a Nestlé factory
