Ethylene glycol C2H6O2 is an ingredient of automobile antifreeze. Its density is 11g/cm3 at 20 degrees celcius. If you need 500 ml of this liquid what mass of the compound in grams is required?

Expert Answer

Step 1

Dear student, it seems like the density of  Ethylene glycol  is mis-typed as 11 g/cm3.

Considering the correct value (1.11 g/cm3) the solution is being provided.

Step 2

Density of Ethylene glycol = 1.11g/cm3

Volume = 500 mL

Mass of liquid is to be calculated.

Step 3

Formula to calculate the Density:

Density = mass / Volume

Mass = Density X Volume

On substituting the values,

Mass = 1....
