Ratios
A ratio is a comparison between two numbers of the same kind. It represents how many times one number contains another. It also represents how small or large one number is compared to the other.
Trigonometric Ratios
Trigonometric ratios give values of trigonometric functions. It always deals with triangles that have one angle measuring 90 degrees. These triangles are right-angled. We take the ratio of sides of these triangles.
A homeowner is building three steps leading to a deck, as modeled by the diagram. All three step rises, HA, FG, and DE, are congruent, and all three step runs, HG, FE, and DC, are congruent. Each step rise is perpendicular to the step run it joins. The measure of ∠CAB = 36° and m∠CBA = 90°. If each step run is parallel to AB and also has a length of 10 inches, determine and state the length of EACH step rise, to the nearest tenth of an inch.
