The electrostatic force of attraction between the oppsitely charged ions that holds them together is known as ionic bond. The compounds that contain ionic bonds are called ionic compounds. The potassium metal forms a cation and has a magnitude of +1. The given cation and anion to form the compound is  K+ and C2H3O2- respectively.  Further, transpose the charge of cation to become the subscript of anion and the charge of the anion to become the subscript of cation. Since on transposing, the number of cations and anions formed is one. The chemical formula for the ionic compound formed on interchanging the charges and adjusting the subscripts is K(C2H3O2 ). The name of the compound is potassium acetate.

Carbon is a non-metal and it forms carbide ion having -4 charge. Thus, it will not combine with C2H3O2- to form the compound.
