Expert Solution
Step 1

Monosaccharides are the simplest form of carbohydrates or sugars having carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen in their structure. They are present in D and L form that is the attachment of the hydroxy group on the right and left side of the asymmetric or chiral carbon respectively.

The beta anomer is the L form of the sugar or monosaccharide whereas the alpha is the D form and they are enantiomers of each other.
