How to calculate Z score

Expert Answer

Step 1

Z-score of a sample indicates how far an element is from the mean in terms of standard deviation. For example, Z score of 1.5 would mean that x (element) is 1.5 * Standard deviation units away from the mean.

This definition explains the standard formula used for calculation of z-score:

Z score = ( X - Mean) / Standard Deviation

Sometimes, Standard deviation and Mean are not directly given. In such cases you can calculate Z score using interval information.

Mean of a uniform distribution with intervals a and b is given by:

Mean = (a+b)/2

Standard Deviation of a uniform disribution with intervals a and b is given by

Standard dev...
