I need help determining what graphs to use for what reason. .. (there can be more than one answer)

Ex: Major field of study for a group of students:

A. dotplot, B. Histogram, C. Stem and Leaf, D. Barchart, E. Boxplot

Ex: weight of backpacks of students

A. Boxplot, B Dotplot, C. Histogram, D. Barchart, E. Stem and Leaf.

Step 1

Here we need to determinea graph which is suitable to analyse major field of study for a group of students.

Step 2

Here the classification of students is being done based on their field of study. Students are categorised into their field of study and each field of study will have a freuency.

A. Dot plot: A dot plot show frequency of numerical data above a number line. So dot plots are used for quantitative variables. Here given variable is field of study which is not quantitative so we cannot use a dot plot.

B. Histogram: A histogram display the data using bars of their respective heights according to scale. A histogram show\'s the freuency of data which is contonuous in rectangles. Each rectangle represents a frequency of a quantitative variable. here the mentioned variable field of study is not quantitative, so we cannot use a histogram.

C. Stem and leaf : This is also similar to a histogram which presents quantitative data in graphical format similar to histogram. As we know here variable "field of study" is not quantitative we cannot use Stem and leaf.

D. Bar chart: A bar chart is a graph which represents frequency of categorical data in rectangles. As the variable mentioned is categorical data we can use bar chart to represent field of study of group of students graphically.

E. Box plot: A box plot is a graphical representation of data which divide the data into parts like minimum,first quartile, median, third quartile and maximum. It represents quantitative data. So we cannot show field of study of group of students through box plot.

To represent graphically the field of study of group of students Bar chart is the best option here.
