The gases which absorbs and emits radiant energy within the thermal infrared range are greenhouse gases.Most of the Sun's radiation comes in the visible range wavelength, so that these gases fails to absorb the energy coming from the direct sun radiation.

Step 2

Greenhouse gases could only absorb long wavelength spectras so that they generally use to absorb the radiation emitted by the earth's surface, heat radiations which are in thermal range wavelength. After absorption, the greenhouse gases will emits the energy back to the space and also half of the energy back towards the Earth's surface.

According to the above equation, if the Earth's surface absorbs more radiation, its temperature will rise and with increase temperature the amount of emission will increase....
