May I ask, Why and how does the mass number change in different questions?  For example, in the question "An ion with 53 protons, 73 neutrons, and 54 electrons." this I iron's mass number is 126, but in periodic table, it shows I atom's mass number is 126.9  Another example, "An ion with 24 protons, 26 neutrons, and 21 electrons", this Cr ion's mass number is 50 while in periodic table Cr atomic mass is 52. I'm confused about how the mass number is changing, does it also change according to electrons? isn't mass number supposed to be realted to just protons and neutrons? Or the way I am understanding the concepts and their relationships are wrong? Thank you!!
