Since this research focuses on sleep habits in college students and its effect on mental health, we have proposed the research question to be what the prevalence of college student's mental health issues are due to poor sleeping habits.Previous research has shown that anxiety and depression can be two indicators of poor sleep habits in college students (Becker et al., 2018). As mentioned before, college students are also at risk of developing poor sleep habits because, as freshmen, they transition into a more significant workload than they are accustomed to doing. They are also given more freedom with their time. So, we predict a relationship between mental health and low amounts of sleep-in students. In contrast, the alternative outcome is that there will be no mental health problems arising as students lose sleep for long periods. Since getting good sleep allows us to function better throughout our days, we will likely see the impact bad quality and quantity of sleep will have on mental health (Oliver et al., 2018). Mental health is vital in the quality and quantity of sleep because it is the state of mind to handle stressors. It was decided to test these relationships because other research has shown a bidirectional relationship between sleep and mental health (Van Dyk et al., 2016). In our research, we will be looking at class standing as we evaluate sleep quality, quantity, and mental health outcomes. We are interested in knowing if  a student's class standing will have a more significant impact on sleep and mental health. There has not been much research proposed on class standing and its correlation to sleep. So, it is significant to continue researching this idea since there is very minimal data to provide a clear relationship between sleep habits, mental health and class standing.    From this paragraph above, please provide 3 examples of hypothesis statements in list form mat. After, please add a sub-hypothesis statement.  Example list: Hypotheses Individuals that wear activity trackers will report higher levels of motivation in association with the tracker than those that do not wear activity trackers. Individuals that wear activity trackers will report higher levels of physical activity than those that do not wear activity trackers. Individuals that wear activity trackers will show no changes in motivation and no increase in levels of physical activity in regards to using the activity trackers than those that do not wear activity trackers. (Null hypothesis) Sub-Hypotheses Individuals who wear activity trackers will show larger changes in measured variables such as increased physical activity and motivation to participate in physical activity than those who do not wear activity trackers.
