Particularly, it goes down into some
categories, like in terms of transportation,
while we have grasped our ways to travel in
vehicles for instance the tribe itself tends to
lack the access for it because their tribe is
centered in mountains, which make it hard
to build any means of transportation. In
addition, the Dumagat tribe not only has
those issues in terms of transportation, but
also the dam construction projects that
threaten the tribe's homes and resources to
be destroyed and tampered with rather
than preserved for many more generations
the tribe itself could possibly live for.
Furthermore the tribe has had problems
from within the tribe itself, as it all goes
down to one particular word, that being,
corruption. Reports from indigenous
communities include incidents of bribery,
false promises, creation of fake leaders, and
suppression of known opposition among the
Dumagat people," according to the TFIP or
The Philippine Task Force for Indigenous

This kind of activity will foster a
spirit of giving and volunteerism
among the Social Action Reps as
well as function as a team-
building activity
for all
representatives and foster a
deep understanding between
one another, aiding one another
in making the event successful.
By enabling the Dumagat
community at IPO Dam to be
independent and promote their
way of life and creativity, the
activity intends to somehow
empower them. The activity not
only feels good but it also gives
a sense of hope to them. The
volunteers will also give an
opportunity for the children to
express themselves in a creative
way, not everyone gets this
opportunity. This is very
beneficial as the dumagat
community gives them the
chance to showcase their culture
in a creative way. These
indigenous cultural people from
the dumagat community have
their own cultural and spiritual
way to preserve and showcase.

Moreabout
Dumagat
At present, the Dumagats lifestyle has adapted
and changed over the years. The tribe is now
regarded as staying in one place, where they
cultivate the land for multi-cropping. Aside from
being fishermen, avast number of the members
of the tribe are engaged in gathering forest
and native products, such as rattan, large vine
trees, and buho, which they sell in the local
market in exchange for high income.
Furthermore, some members have adopted
Christian beliefs that they now uphold
believing in one God. Influenced by modern
Filipinos, the Dumagats are now open to
wearing modern clothes.
of
Located at Sitio Sapang Munti in
Norzagay, Bulacan, the Indigenous People
of the Dumagat Community are known to
be fishermen in the waters of the Angat
River, a primary source
hydroelectricity for Metro Manila and
other nearby provinces. The term
"Dumagat" is believed to be acquired from
the word "lumakad" or "rumakat," which
means to walk and denotes the migration of
the tribe into the country by walking. By this
means, it is said that the Dumagat tribe is
semi-nomadic as they move from place to
place when their sources are depleted. The
said tribe is related to the other Dumagat
tribes located in the regions of Quezon,
Laguna, and Rizal by the kinship of their
ancestors. Moreover, the Dumagat people
have their language, which is the Casiguran
Dumagat Agta, which about 600 people
only speak. The tribe's clothing varies;
however, bahag and tapis are a staple for
men and women. Regarding their religion,
the Dumagats have beliefs and practices
that differ from person to person.
