Indole test. Place the EnteroPluri-Test hori-
zontally, with its flat surface pointing upward,
and melt a small hole in the plastic film cov-
ering the H,S/indole compartment by using
a warm inoculating loop. Add 3 to 4 drops of
Kovacs reagent, and allow the reagent to con-
tact the agar surface. A positive test is indi-
cated by a red color within 10 seconds.
b. V-P test. Add 3 drops of V-P reagent I and 2
drops of V-P reagent II to the V-P compart-
ment. A positive test is indicated by develop-
ment of a red color within 20 minutes.
