NMFS overlooks the quality and processing of seafood through voluntary inspections and a grading program. I think that with all of these agencies working interconnectedly to ensure that the food brought to U.S. and international markets is safe and honestly labeled, public safety is upheld without severely limiting food manufacturers from introducing new food products and processes as long as they follow common sense regulations. However, like with any other field in biotechnology, new food products take a lot of time, as in several years, to develop into a safe and marketable product from inception to market approval. As a result, companies can spend years and millions of dollars on the research and development that go into bringing products such as GMOs to market, not including all of the paperwork and time they would have to spend working with regulatory agencies. While this can limit some innovation, companies can also utilize analytical models to assess risk associated with a novel product which would help to inform their decisions on what kinds of products are worth spending time and resources on.   What is your opinions  about this post ?
