What is an example of redox and metathesis reaction?

Expert Answer

Step 1

The chemical reaction in which loss of electrons takes place or there is an increase in the oxidation state of an element is known as oxidation.

The chemical reaction in which gain of electrons takes place or there is a decrease in the oxidation state of an element by an element is termed as reduction.

Step 2

The chemical reactions in which both oxidation and reduction takes place simultaneously is termed as redox reaction.

In the given redox reaction, there is an increase in an oxidation state of Fe and decrease in the oxidation state of Mn thus, Fe is getting oxidize and Mn is getting reduced as the oxidation state of Mn is decreasing.
