What is meant by Greatest integer function in reference to algebra?

Expert Solution
Step 1

Greatest integer function means the greatest integer contained by a number.

So, if a number x such that: n≤x<(n+1) where n is an integer, then [x]= n

Notation of greatest integer function is: [x]

For example:

[9.1]=9

[1.334]=1

[-1.54] = -2
