Expert Solution
Step 1

The human heart consists of four chambers. Two ventricles and two auricles. The right auricle receives deoxygenated blood from all over the body through the vena cavae. The deoxygenated blood from the right auricle is pushed to the right ventricle by atrial contraction and from the left ventricle it is forced to the lungs through the pulmonary artery by ventricular contraction. Exchange of gases occurs at the lungs and the oxygenated blood from the lungs is  transported to the left auricle through the pulmonary vein. The left auricle contracts resulting in the transfer of oxygenated blood from the left auricle to the left ventricle. Ventricular contraction causes the oxygenated blood to be forced through the aorta from which it is transported to all parts of the body.
