First identify the parent carbon chain and number it in such a way that the carbon with substituent in the chain gets the lowest number.  The name of the parent chain must be considered as base name.

Then, identify and name the substituents attached in the longest chain (parent chain) and give the position of each substituent by the number of the parent chain carbon atom to which the substituent is attached.

Regardless of the position of the substituent, write its name in alphabetical order.
