Question

Write the equilibrium expression, Kc , for each of the following reactions.

  1. Ag2CrO4(s) ⇌ 2 Ag+(aq) + CrO42- (aq)
  2. 2 NO(g) + O2(g) ⇌ 2 NO2(g)
  3. HCN(aq) + OH-(aq) ⇌ CN- (aq) + H2O(l)
Expert Solution
Step 1 equilibrium expression

Since we know that equilibrium expression is written as

Kc = concentration of products / concentration of reactants

I.e Kc = [products]n /[Reactants]m where n and m are the coefficients of products and reactants respectively.

Note : Pure solids or liquids are excluded from the equilibrium expression because their effective concentrations stay constant throughout the reaction.
