Write the complete ionic equation for the reaction that occurs, if any, when solutions of the following substances are mixed: sodium bromide and lead nitrate

Write the complete ionic equation for the reaction that occurs, if any, when solutions of the following substances are mixed: sodium bromide and lead nitrate

Step 1

A balanced chemical equation represents the molecular equation in which the all the substances are present as molecules instead of ions.

Complete ionic equation signifies the reactants and products that exists primarily as ions in the aqueous solution.

Step 2

The molecular reaction when the solutions of sodium bromide and lead nitrate are mixed is written below.

2NaBr (aq) + Pb(NO3)2 (aq) → PbBr2(s) + 2NaNO3(aq)

Step 3

The species NaBr, Pb(NO3)2 and NaNO3 exist as ions in the aqueous solution. So, these species will be written in the form of ions in the complete ionic equation of the reaction.

2Na+ (aq) + 2Br-...
