the different kinds of observations a teacher can use. From the previous 4 childhood development classes that I have taken at West Los Angeles College, I had to do approximately one observation for each class. However, since these classes’ focuses more on the development of a child’s brain, learning about all the different philosophers, and learning about lesson plans, none of those classes paid much attention to observations until the assignment came around. When an observation assignment came up in
According to Dictionary.com a classroom is a place where people learn or get experiences, it is also a room in which classes are held. However, I do not believe classrooms are just a place where people learn or get experiences. It can be for so much more; you can hold a party in a classroom, people can just go to a classroom to sit and reflect by themselves. I’ve even been in a classroom where movies where being played all day long. Not everything is used for what its intended, and one thing could
Classroom Observation For this math assignment I chose to study a first grade classroom. Mrs. Cooper a first grade teacher told me that she would be honored to have me observe her instruction for as many days as I needed to complete my assignment. When I first stepped into her classroom, Mrs. Cooper told me that I could look around and one of the first things that I saw was a series of posters to help children in mathematics. The posters had the following message: · Numbers: This poster displayed
During this observation I learned many tools and ideas that I want to bring and incorporate into my classroom. I realized that the beginning of the year in kindergarten is the hardest because they all come in with different levels. Some of the children went to preschool, some of them didn't. Some of the children learned things like the alphabet before, and some do not. This is the teachers job to bring all of the students to the same level, while stull pushing the students who do know this information
The purpose of this observation is to analyze the students’ behavior that is reinforced in the classroom based on behavioral learning theories. During this observation, I will record how my teacher responds to various students’ behaviors that are both verbal and non-verbal interactions between my teacher and the students. After the observation I will classify each interaction as either positive or negative. In this modern three dance class there are 21 girls and one boy. The overall behavior in
Ms. Collin’s class had lots of books placed throughout the classroom. There were also many comfortable places for the students to read. She has a word wall and alphabet center both easily seen by all students. I observed Ms. Collin’s class during an interactive read aloud. The students sat on a big rug in front of the teacher and listened as she read the book, How Rocket Learned to Read. Before she started reading she asked the students a few questions about the cover of the book. She choose a student
shelves, drapes to create a warm and fun environment, with more pillows, and another underneath a paper made tree, with a seat and more pillows. There are no other adults in the classroom, other than the teacher. There are no students with obvious physical impairments of mobility issues. There are no rules for the classroom behavior posted. The teacher is very firm, yet quite loving, the students seem to hold a great deal of respect
Teach the grade/age levels for which you will be able to relate to the best. 2. What was your most memorable moment during your observations? Most memorable moment(s) was when the students were really engaged with the material and were very interested in adding to the discussions. What was your least memorable moment during your observations? When the students did not care that they were in school, and were totally apathetic – tuned out of what was going on in class
arrived at the classroom, Mr. Art was in the room and appeared to be picking up a stack of books. He told me that the class was out at lunch and that when the class returned, they would be splitting into two groups. The 6th graders would be staying in the classroom with another teacher to work on math and the 5th graders would be going with him to another room to work on a few different subjects. Since the students were not currently in the room, I took this time before my observation to get a layout
During the observation of Morning Meeting, I noticed that my mentor teacher separated the children by gender when the calendar helper counted the number of boys and the girls in the classroom. My mentor teacher asked the calendar helper to have either the boys or girls stand up first to be counted. When the children are getting ready to go outside or to the bathroom, the teacher has also the boys and girls in separate lines. I felt that there were other characteristics for the teacher to separate
