Writing is a tool that will be used throughout my lifetime. It is a tool that is worth taking the time to perfect because it will only be beneficial in the long run. On my writing assignments, I earn A’s, but I still have areas that I need to work on. The areas that I struggle the most would be with simple grammar errors such as the use of commas, writing with an active voice, and writing short,simple sentences. First of all, I often do not know where to place commas in my sentence. I struggle with

Over this past year, my best piece of writing was perhaps my research paper. This was my best piece because I planned my paper thoroughly, spent quality time reviewing my work, and my peers helped edit it. There were several aspects of this research paper that allowed it to be my best piece of writing. Once I know what the target of my writing will be directed toward at, I start to outline the major points of the paper such as the thesis, topic sentences, quotes, analysis, etc. I find the topic sentences for introductions to always be the hardest: it sets the tone for the entire paper, yet I have yet to even write that paper. I combat this by rewriting topic sentences after writing the paragraph, so that I

whole semester every time we were assigned a new project. From the first assignment to the argumentative paper, I feel like I have reflected on moments I already have lived through, but when writing about, I revisited those moments and really discussed the impact it had on either me or the world which led me to understand that specific moment in time better. Writing papers have not always been my favorite thing to do. The main reason why I detested writing papers, was because I considered my English horrible. English is not my native language and learning it was difficult in my opinion. Especially, when as a child the only place where you could speak English was at school. Although, this wasn’t just her fault, Lillian’s mother didn’t exactly have low expectations
