As a former co-worker and adviser, I decided to observe Carmen Macias from East Los Angeles College (ELAC). I wanted to interview her because I knew first hand of her impressive work ethic. In addition, she serves at an institution that services students who come from my home high school of South Gate, CA. ELAC is located in Monterey Park and is one of the nine community colleges apart of the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD). The class profile consist of first year students who are

If a child is not able to stay in his seat during the class his logical consequence would be that he loses his seat and has to stand next to his desk for the activity or at least 10 minutes. This will show the student that having a seat is a privilege and if it is abused they won't get the privilege. If a child did not come in from recess then for the next recess they do not get to go out for recess and we'll have to spend it in the classroom with me. This will teach the student that if I cannot

In my time as a student at Winthrop University, there have been numerous experiences that have molded me into the future educator that I hope to become. Some of the greatest experiences that have helped shape me are my class time in CRTW 201, my class time in EDUC 220, and my time teaching private lessons with the Clover High School Band Program. Each of these experiences has played a large role in helping me become the teacher I am today and the teacher that I aspire to be. The first experience

To be good at something, you must fail and learn from your mistakes. I know that writing essays is my weakest point when it comes to scholar work. I tend to want to finish my work as fast as possible with little to no revision. Additionally, because of the want to finish fast, my sentence structure is weak and most of the time it doesn’t make any sense. My writing is often vague since I just want to finish, so I get straight to the point and ignore adding any details to the main points I am covering

I read some of the chapters from these books and the two articles because after completing about two years in family based, I started to realize that as I was attempting to become a more systemic thinker, I started to lose sight of the unique contributions that individuals bring to the family and relationships. I loved the masters program at Eastern University in Clinical Counseling as it has prepared us for understanding individuals at a meaningful and deep level. However, I only had one class

Wow, it has to be said that it is unbelievable that this is already the fourth week in this course. Time has gone by so quick, but so much has also been learned in this short time. Although I will sound like a broken record, I try to pride myself on not only taking a challenge and preserving through it, but also incorporating new things learned. At the time, things might seem difficult and habits hard to replace, but I have truly grown to have a new found appreciation to what this course has taught

Assignment Two Reflections of Teaching I was given a year 10 BTEC IT&C class to teach. This class has a mixture of abilities and behaviour. Talking to the students over the term the students that could be said to be “disruptive” would happily tell me that they “did not want to pick this option” and felt they had no choice but pick the subject. This gave an interesting challenge of trying to engage these students with the subject and improve behaviour and the environment of the class in general.

This reflective log is a critical self-reflection of the insight gained while developing and practicing my leadership skills in the workshops. In order to start the self-reflection it is important to define the framework to be used. According to Danielewicz (2001, cited by Gay and Kirkland 2003, p.182) critical self-reflection or reflexivity is “an act of self-conscious consideration which can lead people to a deeper understanding of themselves and others…and foster a profound awareness of how social

Throughout the Freshman Inquiry Writing Seminar (FIQWS) in Narrative Medicine, I learned about the various ways in which we can become better healers to society, doctors who establish a personal connection with their patient. In addition, I obtained ways to improve my overall writing so that it sounds more mature, but at the same time interesting. Throughout this course, there were various course learning outcomes such as developing strategies for reading, drafting, collaborating, revising and editing

Reflection Questions Out of all the stories that I heard my favorite story was titled the Power Of Love . The author drew me in by using a precise date and setting and that made me feel like I was there in that same setting. The way she detailed the setting and used a lot of the sense such as stating that the room she sat in was cold and as the doctor talked to her it turned chilly. The speaker used a lot of elements in her story, but one of the strongest elements that I found that would be extremely
