The 3 Things Wrong with Your Ebook Every time an ebook is purchased or downloaded for free, the reader has an expectation that they’ll be receiving something of value, even if it’s just a little. Regardless, there are many published ebooks that fail to do just that. Not only does publishing a poorly written and executed ebook eliminate the author as an authority in their niche, it can damage their credibility with future prospects. Here are three ways your ebook can damage your credibility as an authority: 1. It’s nothing more than a collection of articles – There are several ebooks, courses, how-to’s, etc. on how to use ebooks to build lists, or even make a quick profit. One of the methods being taught is compiling previously written and …show more content…
If you’re not filling in the gaps and getting more specific with the details, you’re missing the point of why people read ebooks. If they can simply find the articles online, they’ll have no reason to follow you further. 2. It’s a giant sales pitch that doesn’t offer any real value – No one wants to read a twenty-seven page sales pitch, or even a ten page one. So why create an ebook that reads like one? People aren’t interested in what you’re selling; they’re interested in how you can help them. If you’re not giving your readers something they can use, they’re going to take their money to someone who can. People want instant results. Whether it’s a product, service, or simply what you’re saying, you have to show them what you have is worth buying. No, you don’t need to disclose all your secrets. However, the information you provide should be substantial enough to convince them that you’re worth investing their time and money …show more content…
It makes you look unprofessional – A poorly written ebook is a quick way to get people to forget who you are. Not only is it unprofessional, it conveys to the reader that you’re lazy, cheap, and don’t possess any real knowledge. If you’re not willing to invest in your product (and that’s what an ebook is), then no one is going to take you seriously. They’re also going to let others know not to take you seriously. Using cheap, outdated PLR, and generic covers aren’t the only way to produce a less than successful ebook. Not having a proper layout, unstructured chapters, providing generic content, not proofreading, and not editing are also common in poorly written ebooks. If you want people investing in what you’re selling or saying, show that you’ve invested in them by providing a solid ebook. Ebooks offer several advantages when they’re done right, and creating one is easy when you have the right information and plan. Here’s a simple guideline to producing an ebook worth publishing: • Choose your target audience (this is who you’re writing the ebook for) • Decide on the point of the ebook (it should help the reader in some way) • Decide on the outcome you want from the ebook (this determines the ebook’s
Answer: I don’t think e-book will phase out the conventional print book because people often say that print book era has been dead where everything can be finding in eBook and other resources. I too agree with that everything should be in DVD’s, cd’s, usbport etc. but e-Book will help to increase the selling of book. for example if I write down the story by chapter wise every day in eBook after the completation of the book in I can publish the book where I can redesigned the book and I can get the buyer attracted and people will also love the book where it has the version of e-book.
E-books have become a new channel for book content distribution. Sales are skyrocketing thanks to the popularity of Amazon’s Kindle e-book reader and the iPad. Publishing companies have begun investing more resources in the Kindle and iPad as delivery platforms for their books and less money in traditional delivery platforms like print news and bound books. Textbook publishers are working on iPad versions of their offerings; newspapers have apps out for the iPad and offer Kindle subscriptions to readers; and major publishers are contracting with software companies to convert existing files to e-reader compatible products.
One of the advantages to an eBook over a printed book is that you can enlarge the
“Imagine walking into a library or bookstore and needing three or four pairs of different glasses to read different books manufactured to specific viewing equipment. Or buying a book and then having to arbitrarily destroy it after say, two weeks. That’s just nuts. But it’s the current situation we’re in with eBooks.”
A dramatic career change in 2010 afforded me a glimpse into the world of publishing, and I have not stopped looking. After serving over twenty-two years as a literacy coach/teacher, in an elementary school district, I resolved to take my love for books to the next level. At Mind Your Intentions, a personal and business coaching firm based in Phoenix, I honed my skills in the publishing division, conducting social media outreach, print and digital marketing, project management,
When I go to a book store I peer at every shelf and pick up many books. I love feeling the silky paper dust covers and the sound the spine make when you first open it. An E book isn’t quite the same. You can’t personally pick up an eBook or feel it. It doesn’t really take up space and you can’t personally touch it. Books on the other hand do and I just love looking
The prevalent of e-books creates numerous platforms for the marketplace of books. For example, when Steve Jobs announced the launch of the iPad iBooks, it created an enormous opportunity for publishers.
If you are planning on using a private label based ebook, make sure that you read over the content yourself so that you can get a feel for the overall quality, as well as the flow of the material. Don’t assume that the material is of high quality and can be used ‘as is’, without personally reviewing the entire document.
And books are a tactile experience, meaning they are supposed to be experienced through touch and smell (especially for the old books). A book is meant to be an experience that can have depressions and elevations on the cover and text, feeling the weight of the pages as you turn them and all of these elements when combined make a book what it is, but when you read an e-book you are exposed to digitized text and a screen. And it’s been proven that when people are exposed to screens of TVs or computers they are less likely to have a good night sleep. On a web poll about e-books vs. books one person commented, ‘I've tried reading a few e-books but I've always given up. I just don't like looking at digitized text when I'm reading a novel. I like the feel, the weight and even the smell of books,’ many of the following comments made by others agreed with this persons thoughts.
Price is a major factor that consumers look at when deciding to purchase anything, including an e-reader. The fact that e-readers are becoming lower in price and eBooks are much less expensive than traditional books is a dominant factor of their increase in popularity.
One of the significant drawbacks of e-books is the issue of compatibility. Various researchers argue that most e-books are not compatible with a variety of software. For instance, a book may be readable on a Kindle device and fail to display its contents in a different device due to compatibility issues. This makes it hard for readers to access all books. It also poses a challenge for readers as all software require a constant update. This is also a major inconvenience for readers as the books they purchase an older version of the software may become obsolete over time, and thus, require them to make a new purchase (Lai and Li 458). Notably, as much as the issue of compatibility describes the disadvantage of using an e-book, it presents a benefit of using the traditional books. This is because the reader will never encounter compatibility issues upon purchasing a hard copy book. Such a book can last for a long
I have been in love with books my entire life. The feel of them, the smell, the weight in your hand, the different sizes and shapes. It is not just the reading, but the entire sensory experience. My shelves are stuffed with them, and stacks of books pop up all over the house. I am planning on becoming a librarian in a few years, a dream come true. One might think that someone so obsessed with books would be dead set against e-readers and e-books, but they couldn’t be more wrong. Amazon’s Kindle made its debt in 2007. I have to admit I wasn’t a fan at first. And I did not even purchase one until 2011, but I have grown to appreciate the portability and ability to choose any book I want in an instance. The Kindle is an amazing product, opening up a world of reading to those who may not otherwise had access, or the interest to read. The following brief summary will give you an overview of how the Kindle came to be an important addition to a book lover’s collection.
E-books can be and should be less expensive," Amazon wrote in a blog post (Amazon, 2014). Online booksellers such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble are selling e-books at a lower cost and many e-books can be downloaded for free.
This project involves me making an eBook for students who are interested in taking level 2 digital technology with programming (Year 12DIP). The content in the eBook will consist of course information for the students and strategies of how they can excel in the level 2 DIP course. The stakeholder for my eBook is Mr Patchigalla who will use my eBook in the future to give to the students who are interested in this course more knowledge of the subject and a sense of what they will be doing. The eBook would cover all the aspects for Level 2 DIP and hopefully enable the students to understand the subject in more detail.
E-Books. E-Books, though originally proposed in the 1930 's, have been around since 1971 when Project Gutenberg was launched and in their modern form since the late 90 's. E-Books became a viable alternative to print books in 2007 with the launch of the Kindle (Bartram). Lower cost, portable, and easily searched, E-Books can replace traditional print texts on devices from the student 's laptop all the way over to the phone that they carry in their pocket. According to Pearson Education, 38.6% of the cost of a student book goes back into the publishing of new copies (U.S. Cong. House. Comm. on Education and The Workforce 24). By purchasing or renting an E-Book the material production cost for a new printed copy can be eliminated, due to the actual copy of the book being released in an electronic form. These costs being eliminated can allow a student to save anywhere from 30 to 50 percent off of the books cost. Some colleges are even putting their entire libraries online, in 2010 The University of Phoenix charged a flat fee of 75 dollars a semester for a student to gain full access to all of their electronic books (Baker-Eveleth 249). For books that have fallen into the public domain a student can use Project Gutenberg. Project Gutenberg was founded in 1971 and has been digitizing books ever since. The project now has over 100,000 E-Books available for download and is adding more every day.
