Sports has always been a huge part of my life. I would be the one team player who took the sports season a little bit too seriously. I was the number 1 doubles player on my school's JV tennis team. Unfortunately, I fractured my ankle during my junior year and wasn't able to play with my team. I was devastated, but I didn’t allow myself to become disconnected from my team. I became the team manager to allow myself to still play a role in my team, despite my injury. Many people are more active today than they were many years ago. Injury prevention and diagnosis plays a big role in today’s society. Preventing an injury is important for many athletes all over the world, and for people that are physically active. Preventing injuries can benefit an athlete in the long run. Athletic trainers help athletes and physically active people stay healthy for what they do on a daily basis.

I had a hard time finding a career. All the careers I came across did not interest me at all. Until a friend came up with the idea of the career of athletic training. That is when I started my research and my interest grew greater.

Being able to help athletes return to the sport they love after an injury sounds like a great job, but what if I told you that the job of a sports medicine physician comes with a lot of health risks and lack of sleep? Many physicians work in small private offices or clinics. They are often assisted by a small staff of nurses (“Career Guide”). They must evaluate athletes before they participate in sports to prevent them from reinjuring something (“Sports Medicine Physicians”). Sports medicine physicians must perform physical examinations, record information, and maintain medical records (“Sports Medicine Physicians”). Their goal is to help treat athlete’s injuries to help them return to the sport they are in. The issues that concern me about being a sports medicine physician are the long, irregular hours, the health issues that can result from lack of sleep, and the risks that can result the irregular hours.

All throughout school, students are ask what we want to be when we grow up. Many of us know or have a pretty good idea, but others have no clue what they want to pursue as a career in life, whether it be furthering their education at a university or attending a technical school. An injury that can present itself as simple headaches to nausea to dizziness to complete loss of consciousness. Something that is described as a bruise to the brain caused by a bump or a blow to the head has become an athlete’s worst nightmare: a concussion (What).

Sports are a popular pastime among all ages and types of people. People not only participate in them for fun, but also for money, physical fitness, rush of competition, and for many other personal reasons. Playing sports is especially common among young people in schools. Athletics are great and enjoyable for many reasons, but there can be a point where sports participation can go too far and become negative for children and adults. Sports specialization for young people is an increasing trend that results in sports having a negative impact on individuals and society.

In order to ensure optimal job satisfaction, it is vital to educate oneself about every alluring prospect prior to committing. Simple factors like the time commitment and salary can mean the difference between a content existence and a miserable one.

My whole life has been centered around the field of kinesiology. Since I was about four years old I have been involved in some sort of sport or physical activity and I have never wanted to change that. When I learned that there was a major that could revolve around sports and activity of which I love so much, I decided to throw myself fully into it. I have always been one to throw myself into whatever I am doing and challenge myself and set high goals. Therefore, I have chosen to go to medical school after my undergraduate education and become an orthopedic surgeon. Today in sports athletes endure many mental and physical obstacles from there competitive environment. Many of today's best athletes work with sports psychologists to help them handle the pressures found in this competitive atmosphere. One question that athletes ask is, why cant they play in big games as well as they anticipate themselves doing? Sports psychologists feel that spending all their time on body conditioning and athletic skills will not ensure that athletes reach their peak performance.

I am a Podiatrist based in Canberra, ACT. I originally trained with a Bachelor of Podiatry at CSU and graduated in 2014 with a dynamic background in all aspects of Podiatric Medicine but predominantly I have a special focus in sports podiatry and elite high performance sport. I remember fracturing my ankle once from a soccer injury. I took around a month or two to rehabilitate my injury. When was the last time you thought about your future? These days, many school systems are requiring their students to fill our career-planning forms as young as elementary school. By the time you have reached the high school level, you should have a pretty good idea of what you want to do with your life. You may change your mind over time, but you should at least be thinking about your future at this stage, because your future is approaching faster than you might want to believe. Part of your concern should be on whether or not you are prepared to face the real world when you step out of the doors of your high school for the last time. When you receive your diploma in that graduation line, are you really going to be prepared to study at a university or start working a regular job? If the answer is no, then your high school curriculum might not be focusing on the future of the students. A high school curriculum that focuses on the future is a high school curriculum that prepares students for the future.
