A Covenant Promise
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth. With just the words from the Creator’s mouth, God formed the stars and planets, the land and sea, the plants and animals. Upon creating these things, the God of wonders declared it, “good.” However, God, in three persons, resolved to make a special creation, one for Godself, one in God’s own image, and one about whom God would call, “very good.” Humankind, man and female, were created and placed in the Garden of Eden, a land of peace, protection, and provision. Out of the ground, God brought up every tree, but in the center of the garden there existed two trees – the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. God gave dominion over the land and

In fact, Jesus begins his ministry by reading from the prophet Isaiah to announce his mission. In the synagogue of his hometown, Jesus read, “The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim freedom to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” The Gospel of John tells us that that Christ came not only to bring light, but was light to a darkened world. Paul tells us in Romans that it was Christ Jesus who set us free from the law of sin and death. Christ by His own confession, says that He came not to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many. Jesus Christ, God’s one and only son, came that whoever believes in him, will not perish, but will have everlasting life. But how can this be? How is this even possible? This process of salvation is called the atonement, and it refers to how Jesus makes us one with God. Over the centuries that the church has been established, countless have written on the specifics of the incarnation, but I will tell you what I believe from what I see in …show more content…
Jesus is the son who will destroy the serpent at the expense of getting struck. Jesus is the way that God godself can be the sole deliverer as stated in the promise to Abraham. Jesus is the better Moses who will lead God’s people out of bondage. Jesus is the better David who will set-up an eternal dynasty that will never fail. Jesus is the suffering servant seen in Isaiah. Jesus is the one who is the fulfillment of all righteousness that Malachi talks about. Jesus is our hope. Jesus though divine, was also fully human, and He experienced the full spectrum of temptation; nevertheless, He did not sin. The message of Christ was one that went against the grain of the religious norm or expectations of the Messiah. The people of Israel expected a military leader, but they found a humble servant who came to give life, not to take. The people of Israel rigorously clung to the law which they could not keep for the hope of their salvation, but Jesus condensed the law into two commands - Love God with all you have, and Love people as you love
Also, there would not be Christianity without the incarnation, atonement, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and when God took human form through his Son, Jesus became fully human and God. He was the Messiah that Gods people longed for to save humanity from a sinful life (“Lecture 4”, 2017). Also, it is important to understand as a Christian that before Jesus Christ died humanity could not enter Gods Holy Kingdom after they passed because humanity was sinful. God sacrificing his son was a way to lay a path for humanity to follow if they choose to and if they follow Gods commandments can join God in his holy Kingdom after they pass away (“Lecture 4”, 2017). The truth of the Bible is the incarnation of Jesus Christ. Even though the incarnation was torturous Jesus knew it would be and God new how much torcher was needed to make clear that reconciliation accrued. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, but he is also our Godhead or divine Trinity. He is humanity’s
A simplistic explanation of the Old Covenant is that it was a perfect, law keeping performance based contract with God. If the laws and commandments were obeyed, He provided financial blessings, many children, health, and long life. When man sinned or broke God’s laws, which He
In John 10:10 Jesus said, “…I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (KJV). In the Old Testament, God gave His Law to the Israelites through His servant Moses. Full of stipulations and specifics, the Law exhibited to God’s people their incapability to meet God’s standards of their own volition. When Jesus lived on this earth, He said, “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill” (Matthew 5:17 KJV). Because Jesus was God, He could never contradict what God had already said in the Law and through the prophets. Instead, He fulfilled the Law by living a sinless life and dying as a substitutionary sacrifice for the sins of the human race. Those who believe in Jesus’ death and, equally as important, His resurrection, are cleansed of their sins by the blood of Jesus through the grace of God (Revelation 1:5 KJV). After His ascension, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to be with those who believed in Him (John 15:26
Jesus became the incarnation in order to restore the human race and revive all creations on Earth. Jesus himself said, “I came to seek and to save that which was lost” (Athanasius, 13). With humanity’s free will there was a fall that needed God’s redemption. God could not just leave his creations to follow a path of complete destruction. In the text, Athanasius discusses that repentance may stop future sins, but it will not restore the corruption from the previous sins. He also implies that once humankind sins, they are bound to sin again. According to Athanasius, Jesus had to enter the world to undertake a human body so that he could die for us on the cross in order to forgive our sins.
What qualify Jesus to be our savior is His identity, ministry and that He was sinless. Jesus not only was man but also God, and salvation could only come from Him, “There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” Acts 4:12. His numerous teaching explained the principles of God’s emphasized that everyone is a guest enters because he or she deserves to. He also faced temptation with all human beings. His struggles were severe but he never yielded. Jesus was sinless.
Jesus was a great teacher who came to help us live better lives. There are many accounts of this in the Gospels where Jesus’ teaches his people. We learn about Jesus in the Gospels from his birth, death, resurrection, and everything in between. Other than his teachings in the Gospels, we see miracles that he has done like healing a leper and a paralyzed man, or feeding 5,000 people with just two fish and five loaves of bread. We can learn a lot about Jesus from names he is given like Messiah for example. Messiah is used many times in the Bible and it means “anointed one.” The Jewish people expected God to send a Messiah to help them with their problems and this would be Jesus. By knowing the meaning of Messiah,
Jesus Christ is the son of God. He has several missions, however I will only address a few. Jesus came to free us from sin, show us the truth and light of the world, and to remind us if the love that God has for us.
first account God created light, sea, land, vegetation, living creatures, then man and woman. In the second
“11 And God said, let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.” (The Bible, Genesis. 1-11) God created earth with all what it has from minerals and rocks to plants and animals. He also made the nature in a unique way. After that, God created humans and gave them dominion over the other species and creations. “28 And god blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” (The Bible, Genesis. 1-28)
On the other hand, Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice: to die on the cross. Jesus gave his life for us, humanity when he died crucified to obtain reconciliation between God and humans. This act shows the true definition of love and therefore, the problems were solved mankind. Again, it proves God at the resurrection on the third day of his death (Johnson, 2015). But Jesus, being in front of his disciples, and testify that the land would not be but that the Holy Spirit, who is God in the third form of the Trinity, and would always do the job he was doing. However, faith and grace play a very important role in salvation and reconciliation. The Christian worldview is not like the other religious visions. Christians believe and rely on no matter the many acts of kindness you 've done in your life, salvation is faith and thank God you have them and Jesus primarily (Hiles & Smith, 2014). Lie in the other religions is based on acts done in life to give you salvation and be in "heaven". Returning to the Christian faith, there is a process by which every human being must pass for salvation: call, regeneration, conversion, justification, sanctification, and glorification. The
God created the universe out of nothing (Ps.33:6,9). By affirming God as Creator we set him apart from creation (in contrast to pantheism) and assert that creation is dependent on him (in contrast to materialism/dualism/deism) (Acts17:25,28; Eph.4:6). All of creation is intended to show God’s glory (Ps.19:1-2). Before the fall He deemed it very good (Gen.1:31), thus leading us to delight in his creativity and goodness as we serve as stewards entrusted to care for creation.
The Garden of Eden is a biblical story in which God has formed the earth in 7 days, and after that has made human in his own likeness. He made the first human that has ever walked on this earth, and his name is Adam. Later on, God thought that man shouldn’t be alone. “The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him… Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.” (Genesis 2). Adam and Eve lived in a place of paradise which is called The Garden of Eden, they were free to explore and enjoy the land but God has requested only rule from them. God has clearly said that they can enjoy the fruits from all of the trees but forbids them to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. But temptation has come in Adam and Eve’s path, which lead to Eve giving into that sin in which eventually has lead Adam doing the same thing for she decided to have Adam eat the fruit as well. “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it.” (Genesis 3). When they have eaten the fruit, they’ve come to realization that they were both completely naked and made clothes out of leaves. Once God has seen them that they
In the beautiful Garden of Eden, human life began. God said, In the likeness of God, Adam and Eve were the first man and woman, entrusted to steward God's magnificent creations. They have full authority and access to the Garden at all times except for one thing that God had forbidden – to not eat from the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil". However, things began to plummet when they've committed the act of disobedience because of the enemy's deception.
According to Christian faith Jesus is the son of God or the son of man. To me He is my savior meaning he is the one that was sent to die on the cross for me and all of creation. I believe Jesus was able to feel and go through a lot of the struggles that so many of us go through every day. Jesus is my healer, he was beaten and bruised and because of it I believe that he healed me. He was a perfect example of how we should live life, giving the good news that he was sent by God to heal everyone who was sick, to restore families and households. He gives hope to those that are poor, he preached that God wanted them to be wealthy and have an abundant life. He did not come to condemn me but to encourage me. However according the book of Matthew based on who Jesus is he is compassionate, healer and responds to our Faith.
The Gospels touch on many teachings of Christianity. Some are outright preached, either by Jesus or explicitly in scripture, while other’s have since been derived by followers. The holy trinity of Jesus, God, and the Holy Ghost is one such example. One of Jesus 's’ essential teachings was salvation for social outcasts. He specifically mentions widows and orphans many times in his sermons. However, not only does Jesus promise these people salvation, he calls their poverty ‘blessed.’ Many times he associates with, and heals, the poor, sick, and cast out.
