Reason to choose this topic
The reason why I choose this topic is very special to me. I was deeply involved with my uncle who suffered from severe heart disease. As no other family member was available to look after him. So, I looked after him and I passed through all that pain with him. Since then, I was very eager to study heart diseases and related topic.
Cardiovascular Diseases: Cardiovascular diseases (additionally called heart disease) are the diseases of heart and vessels (arteries, capillaries, and veins) or both. Cardiovascular diseases are the most prevalent conditions of today’s world. But, the real dilemma is we don’t know the exact reason of the disease. So, we don’t have the exact treatment. Though, we cure the symptoms but still we can’t identify the fundamental reason of the diseases
Here is the list of most occurring heart diseases.
• Coronary artery disease
• Cardiac arrhythmias
• Hypertension
• Heart failure
• Thromboembolic diseases
General Risk Factors: Generally speaking, there are number risk factors which can contribute to the any of the above heart disease. Smoking, alcohol, lack of physical activity, high fat intake, fatigue, stress and depression are some of the risks that might affect the cardiovascular system. But, there is no direct evidence of involvement of these factors into causing the drug. Now we discuss the heart diseases one by one
Coronary artery Disease: Coronary artery disease is a general term used to describe a number of
In Falcon’s report “Heart Disease” he anatomically describes the heart as “a fist sized organ located in the lower left quarter of the chest…[consisting] of four chambers: the right and left atria on top and the right and left ventricles at the bottom” (Falcon). While the heart is one of the smaller organs in the body, it has an enormous and important job to do; deliver nutrient carrying blood to the tissues in the human body. In people with heart disease, the heart is impeded and cannot efficiently deliver nutrients and oxygen to structures such as our muscles or our brain. This is one of the reasons that heart disease is so deadly; when our body structures are deprived of necessary nutrients, they begin to breakdown. The term “heart disease” encompasses a wide variety of
According to the WHO, cardiovascular diseases have been the leading cause of death globally claiming 17 million lives a year, more deaths than all cancer combined (Chiu and Radisic, 2013). Cardiovascular disease is responsible for a preponderance of health problems and its impact is expected to grow further as the population ages. In the UK, NHS spends about £7.74 billion as the expenditure to deal with cardiovascular diseases (Barton et al., 2011). Cardiovascular disease in the form of myocardial infarction has become the principle cause of death in developed countries, accounting for nearly 40% of all deaths (http://www.bhf.org.uk/). Congenital heart defects, which occur in nearly 14 of every 1000 new-born children, is another tragic fact that baffles medical industry (http://www.heart.org/). About 61 million Americans (almost one-fourth of the population) live with cardiovascular diseases, such as coronary heart disease, congenital cardiovascular defects, and congestive heart failure.
Cardiovascular disease has reportedly been the number one disease killer for men and women in the United States of America. Every one out of four deaths is caused by heart disease in the United States alone (Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention). Heart disease refers to the different types of conditions and symptoms that can affect the one’s heart and its functions to the body (Mayo Clinic). Cardiovascular/Heart disease has many causes and conditions, prevention methods and symptoms, and treatment options.
Cardiovascular disease is a substantial concern and has emerged as one of the leading health issues. In examining cardiovascular disease, its incidence is astounding. Each year approximately one million men and women die, averaging one death every thirty three seconds (Heart, 2013).The death rate for cardiovascular issues such as myocardial infarction and CHF claim more lives than cancer and Aids combined. Heart disease will be the number one cause of death by the
Heart disease, sometimes called cardiovascular disease, is the narrowing or blockage of blood vessels around the heart. It is affected by many factors. Some of these factors include age, gender, obesity, high cholesterol, lack of physical activity, diabetes, hypertension, smoking, as well as genetic heart defects that one might be born with. The question now becomes how do these risk factors affect or impact heart disease. Are the factors necessary, sufficient, or component causes? Someone with a healthy heart will generally not have problems associated with heart disease, except perhaps though drug or alcohol use. Someone with heart disease, however, has a heart that has been damaged through one of the
Cardiovascular disease is the disease that influences the veins which incorporate veins, corridors and vessels and the heart, overall this framework is known as the cardiovascular system. This disease is confounded for the coronary illness and comprises of plentiful issues joined with a natural methodology known as atherosclerosis; when substances develop in the dividers of the conduits. Under the cardiovascular disease flag, there are coronary diseases which influence the corridors, hear musicality issues, known as arrhythmias lastly the cogenital heart defects. The World Health Organization group cardiovascular disease into inherent coronary illness, cerebrovascular disease, coronary infection, rheumatic coronary illness, peripheral arterial disease and the profound vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.
Any condition which hinders or prevents proper blood circulation to the heart and body, is considered a heart disease. The heart, whose function is to propel blood to all the body is primarily responsible for a long and healthy life, when well maintained. Unfortunately, due to today’s society habits, such as poor diet, sedentary lifestyle, stress and excessive use of toxic substances such as tobacco, cardiovascular disease is the number one problem in the country (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2015). Through my Community Health Assessment project I could identify heart disease as the number one cause of death, and a big community issue that can’t be overlooked. In 2014, 3 out of 10 people in Florida died of a cardiovascular disease,
Heart disease is a wide term that describes a range of conditions that affect your heart. These heart diseases consist of born heart defects, blood vessel diseases, and heart rhythm implications. This term can also be interchanged with the term “cardiovascular disease”, which refers to blood vessel blockage that can lead to severe effects (chest pain, heart attack, stroke). Other symptoms that affect your heart’s beat or muscles also are considered a type of heart disease. Living a healthy life and making healthy choices can help prevent and treat multiple forms of heart disease.
Heart diseases are the one of major reason for deaths worldwide. Heart disease is often from
Heart or cardiovascular disease is an umbrella term utilized for various diseases that can affect one's heart. As with any disease, there are certain factors that can exacerbate the onset and continuation of this disease. For this reason, the paper below will analyze heart disease in detail and describe the specific population that is prone to being affected by this disease, as well as what this population can do to help alleviate the harmful effects of heart disease.
Cardiovascular Disease which is also called Heart Disease is a term used to cover the many conditions which enables the heart to perform normally. According to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, heart disease is the highest cause of hospitalization in Canada (2011). I will be reviewing the most preventable heart disease called Coronary Artery Disease.
Heart Disease is one of the major reasons for death in the United States and around the world. The two major categories of heart disease include heart attack and stroke. A healthy artery allows for a free and easy flow of blood throughout our bodies, but whenever these arteries become clogged, this is where the serious and possibly fatal problems develop. Some people are more prone to getting heart disease than others. This could be caused from genetic traits that are passed down from older generations or heart disease could develop from one’s lack of exercise or lack of eating healthy. Whichever case, there are ways to prevent its occurrence.
Research about the cardiovascular system is important because cardiovascular function is what keeps people alive. The cardiovascular system really plays a big role in maintaining homeostasis and sustaining life. This study further demonstrates the vast amount of mechanisms that function together in order to provide a homeostatic environment. Furthermore, by knowing different components of this mechanism common illness and diseases may be more easily treated or cared for. With further research people will better understand prevention and management of this system in order to live a healthier life. Future studies should spend a longer period of time and have a larger sample size in order to obtain a more accurate data set. Researchers could also focus on how they could better understand and possible manipulate pathways in treatment for conditions and diseases. As a whole, it can be seen that cardiac function is by no means a single functioning mechanism and instead is an impressive integrating
Heart disease is a major epidemic that is destructive and incurable. Every 1 in 4 deaths in America alone are caused by a diseased heart. People who are at risk are smokers, type 2 diabetics, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, obesity or overweight, unhealthy diet, lack of physical activity, and genetics. Some examples of heart diseases are marfan syndrome (which affects the body’s connective tissues.), cardiomegaly (which is an enlarged heart due to some other type of heart condition.) and lastly atrial fibrillation (which is when the heart has irregular electric signals leading the person to have irregular heart rhythms.)
One of the most common diseases worldwide is known to be cardiovascular disease. The heart is a muscle that is known to perform various functions by helping the body get oxygenated blood. The heart is almost the size of a fist of the hand located slightly on the left side of the breastbone. If the heart fails to function properly, individuals may suffer from various symptoms leading to different cardiovascular diseases. Cardiovascular disease should be taken seriously because it determines the quality of life. To improve symptoms and quality of life, individuals should enroll in exercise programs or exercise on their own. Exercise plays a major role in the function of the heart. By exercising the heart muscle, there is efficient blood flow.
