Ava stepped out on the porch, waiting for her. As Dahlila straightened out the inside of her car, the other girl came to the porch, giving Ava an odd look as she bent to pick something up. “Sorry. I’m just getting my backpack. I was out collecting flowers for a project and the woods here has an abundance of them.” Ava turned to her with a straight brow, wondering why the hell she was apologizing, and this returned her an uncomfortable look. She turned to look back at Dahlila, to avoid from worrying about her feelings and the girl turned and walked down the path that lead to the road. Dahlila looked up at Ava, instantly recognizing her as well. With a smile and a wave, she skipped up on to the porch. Ava’s stomach tightened uneasily. Was she sure this is what she wanted to do? Her blonde hair was pulled back perfectly into a ponytail; you could see her hairline and her light blue t-shirt lined with sweat. “Hi! Did you just get here?” Ava took her held out hand. “Yeah. The door was unlocked. I let myself in.” “Oh good.” Her voice narrowed into a higher pitch, intentionally sweetening it. Ava cringed and she tried not to. “I was hoping you would if I couldn’t make it back in time. I’m so sorry about that, my dance class ran a little later than usual.” Ava thought about asking her about it but she didn’t, instead she just stood there staring back, leaving an awkward moment of silence as she registered her. She didn’t really know Dahlila well, so that was reason to have her
"Right. I forgot that fast." I roll my eyes and unlock the door for her. She climbs in.
Howleen did not answer. She continued to sob pitifully, and her mother looked up at the nurse after a moment. “We’ll think about it.”
“Hi sweetie,” she said kissing me on the cheek, then stared at me with a concerned look. “You’re almost four hours late! Where were you?”
Are you okay?” Her normally quiet voice bounced around underneath, but there was no answer.
Jake gave me a curt smile and squeezed my shoulder gently. He walked at the end of the hallway and nodded at me, signaling me to go ahead in. I shook the jitters that I was feeling off and walked into the

beginning. As Maddie took me to the back of the kitchen I was thinking what is going on, did I do something wrong. She turns and looks at me and say she had just lost her servant girl Polly to the mysterious fever. I felt sad for her.
I pressed my lips together as if to say yes and she opened the door, allowing me to enter.
“Well I was hoping I could go with you” she smiled back up at him.
My friends turned and saw what I meant. They then decided to ask her what was wrong, as we normally did.
Downhearted, that was the feeling that Tessa had to be dealing with everyday. Her sister, Anne, was driving her crazy. Anne always got good grades without even trying, more popular than Tessa, and extremely bossy. The students at Plymouth high school were getting ready for 2017 graduation, but Tessa was worried that she might not graduate. She had Ds in most of her classes, and no one had asked her to prom.
“This is a story that happened long ago,” the old man said. It was on his last days, every breath, making it worthwhile. His youngest grandson listening to his last words coming out of his mouth. He was a wise old man. Spent his time well, and lived his life.
“Good morning, Nancy, you have grown so tall!” she tousled my hair playfully. I grinned and grabbed a piece of toast.
“Certainly,” Anya and her mother stood, her mother moving closer to lead him toward the door of the room. “You are always quite welcome here, don’t be afraid to pop in unannounced.”
