In the year of 2009 at the age of 8 or 9 my mom had big news to tell me. Many emotions were brought upon me, but for the most part I was excited yet scared to hear the news. My aunt and grandma knew about the news, so I was next in line. My mother didn't know how to tell me because I was so young and she didn't know if I was able to handle the news or not. One morning while getting ready for school, she sat me down and said she had some news to tell me. After thinking about all the possible things she could say, I eventually asked what was it? She responded back that I was going to be a big sister. After hearing the news I cried a little. My reaction was different than what anyone expected. Being that I was the only child for about nine and a half years, I felt that my world was coming to an end. I never had to share anything with anybody so I was a little selfish. The feeling of me having to now share my mom with other people broke my heart. The day after learning the news I stopped talking to my mother. I just wanted to be alone to process the information I was told. Although my reaction was different than the normal reaction, I eventually opened up and became excited to meet my new younger siblings. One day I was off from school and my mother had a doctor's appointment. I begged her to take me with her. At the doctor's appointment I was super excited and jittery because we were going to find out the sex of the baby. Both my mom and I wanted her to have a girl.
Farmers all through the 1920s had experienced “intense competition and declining prices because of overproduction [;] U.S. agricultural interests lobbied the federal government for protection against agricultural imports” (Britannica 2015). Herbert Hoover had sided with the farmers in raising Agricultural tariffs that eventually led to his presidency and signing of the act. This Smoot Hawley Tariff as it was called would “increase the cost of imported goods so that U.S. consumers would spend their money on U.S. products” in turn would save U.S. jobs in “import competing industries” (Suranovic 2012). The act went through various revisions leading up to the presidents signing that rose tariffs for
I had lacrosse practice on the hottest day of summer. The best day was going to jump off a cliff and die. Practice was done and I was hungry for food. I got in my mom’s car and asked my mom to go somewhere and get some food. We went to Taco Bell. I finished and was ready to go home and get a shower. We were going down the road and suddenly my mom got a phone call from my aunt. As soon as my mom started to talk to my aunt she started to cry and break down. She
It was one of the best days of my life and soon one of the saddest days. When I was 5 years old I got one of the best gifts any kid good ask for. I’ve always wanted one and was so glad when I laid eyes on her. Before I go into detail why not just start from the very beginning. One evening, my little brother and I was watching tv with my mama when I heard my mama talking to my dad on the phone saying “what you mean you have a surprise?” When I heard that, I knew that It had to be something really intriguing. Minutes later I could hear the sound of the tires running over rocks and an engine running. It turns out that It was my daddy pulling into the driveway, so I had gotten even more anxious to find out exactly what the surprise was. My mama, brother, and I all waited in the living room, ready to find out exactly what my daddy was surprising us with. He finally walked in but in his hand was a box with holes in the top.
A couple of years later when I was in second grade my family just returned from a cruise, and my mom took a pregnacy test, causing us to figure out my mom was pregnant. A couple of months later my mom took me and my granny(she was visiting at the time)to this place that does baby related things including figuring out if you were going to have a boy or a girl.My mom did that and guess what!I was going to have a baby sister! Also they had these things called Heartbeat Bears which are stuffed animals that made a heartbeat sound recorded from your baby, two of those, a whale for me ,and a bunny for my sister.
Ancient Greek cultures and traditions have set many precedents in the world. Even now in the twenty-first century, the presence of ancient Greek culture can be found in our mathematical and scientific formulas and theories, philosophy, and art. While some parts of the Greek culture have receded throughout the progression of history, like the belief in the pantheon of the gods, others have stayed, but changed. For example, the Hippocratic Oath, an oath sworn by medical professionals to the gods has changed throughout the years, but still remains a part of current medical practice. The Hippocratic Oath, although changed with time, offers important insight to the principles and beliefs that the ancient Greeks thought as important.
I will be talking about my mother being pregnant and having my sister. She was about thirty five when she got pregnant with her.she told me my brother my sister and me by handing my sister prenatal pills. We were all so shocked and happy.
Growing up, my curiosity began to develop at a young age. Educational television was a factor in this development. One example of the many educational television programs that I watched at a young age covered diverse lifestyles of assorted tribes. As I grew older, the programs led me to question the tribal communities access to basic human rights and how the community was able to preserve their traditional values and cultural norms. Later on in life, I wanted to seek the knowledge about the questions I had as a young adult. This led me to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology at Murray State University. I was able to gain knowledge to better answer the questions I had. As I absorbed the research, I took an interest in the treatment of women,
It was a casual summer day when I heard the good news. I came downstairs and saw my dad with a big grin on his face and my mom with a camera.
I was nine months pregnant when one early morning I felt a gush of water flow out of me. I gasp and said "it's time." No one was home except for me. To make sure it was finally time to give birth I waited until the contraction where four minutes apart. As I was changing my pants I then called my parents who were at work. "Oh no, are you ready for some pain," my mother told me as she laughed her heart out. "Mom don’t scare me," I frantically told her. Just then my aunt had just arrived from work and I quickly ran downstairs to tell her it was time. As she rushed me to the hospital I began thinking about how much my life would now feel complete. It's like I had a friend who heard me cry, who listen to me talk, who ate what I would eat. It was
When my mom came in, she went up to me and said, “Come here and wait, I have to get something. I forgot it.” I replied with a simple “Okay”, not thinking much about it. Then, my mom walks in with something. Suddenly, I heard a very vocal “meow!” I got super excited. It was a cat! A Bengal cat! I had always wanted one because of how pretty and beautiful they were.
On 10 October 2006 on a military base in California I had the most unexpected surprise of my life. That day I was told by my doctor that I was pregnant. This was a complete shock to me since I was on birth control. My career in the Army was on the rise and baby was not something I had even wanted yet. I had only been married for one year and we wanted to wait since we had so many plans. That day my life had been the start of the beginning.
I was sitting on the couch in the living room of my grandma's house and all of the sudden my brother hollers from the garage, “Dad! Dad!”. I figured he wanted to buy something on his game so I got up to see what he needed. As I walked toward the garage I saw what was going on. I started to yell my dad's name too. He ran out and saw my grandpa laying on the garage floor. He got down on the ground next to him, held his head and screamed to my Mom to call 911.
It was the end of my senior year one month away from graduation. When I got home my parents said they had some good news; they looked at one another with glowing eyes. Were they having a special moment? No, they were hiding something from me and I could feel that something wasn’t right. They were happy about something I don’t think I’ve ever seen them that excited. My mother showed me an ultrasound imagine. I was going to have a baby sister .I asked how many months she was; she answered four. I was so upset that my mother would keep something like that to herself. I tried to putting a fake smile on my face but it was nearly impossible. Tears were running down my checks. I immediately went to my room. I knew that my mother felt awful it was my intention .I didn’t know what to feel on one side I had so much anger but on the other side I always wanted a younger sibling.
Two years had passed and I was now in the fifth grade. Still no siblings, but my mom did babysit at home, which gave me the opportunity to help out and feel as though I had younger siblings again. One day after school my mom and dad were waiting for me in the car outside of Denkmann Elementary School. I ran out to the car and opened my door and sitting on the center console of the back seat there was a pregnancy test that read positive. I knew my parents had been trying, but they had never been able to conceive. It took me a second to process what I was seeing, but once I did I began to shake with excitement. I was finally going to have a sibling of my own.
My mind was full with questions but all of them were answered when my sister called my mother and told her the great news. Then suddenly, I’ve heard this loud screaming from my mother room. In a minute, all my siblings went to her room with anxiously. After she hang up the phone, with full of excitement we asked her what was happening? With a joyful face, she told us that our sister is
