A Thank You Letter For Scholarship

Going into the nursing program at Colorado Christian University means so much to me. I have been to a couple different colleges but at that time I wasn’t sure what I wanted to go for. Now, I know exactly what my goal is and what I want to achieve with school. I currently work as a Hospice CNA, I love my job. I will be the first out of my parents and mothers side of the family to graduate from a four year college. Also, being a nurse is something I’ve always dreamed about. Working as a hospice CNA has really made me value life and has opened my eyes to nursing. I love being there for my patients and their families. I am currently a senior nursing student at Samuel Merritt University. I will be graduating and receiving a bachelor’s of nursing science degree in December of this year. After graduation, I hope to pursue a career in pediatric nursing, ideally via the Versant new graduate program at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital in Palo Alto, California. I find so much joy in caring for children and providing support to their families, and I look forward to being able to make a difference in the lives of my patients throughout my nursing

Van Gogh once said “your profession is what you’re put here on earth to do, with such passion and such intensity that it becomes spiritual in calling”. That is what nursing is to me. A passion that started early in life. During my senior year in high school, I completed the nursing assistant course over a holiday break in order to begin working as a certified nursing assistant at a local hospital and nursing home. I continued serving others, in this capacity, while I pursued higher education earning my Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Clarkson College. After graduating Anacortes High school I plan on attending a four year private liberal arts university. I will be pursing a Bachelors of Science in Nursing leading to a career as a Registered Nurse. My main interest is a specialty in pediatrics. Following a month stay at Children's Hospital after enduring emergency surgery and a difficult recovery I decided nursing is what I'm meant to do. During my senior year of high school, our graduating class had to take more than one career assessment. I was given choices in the health and human science field. I was a lover of science and the human body so there is no wonder on why I was given these career choices. You never think about choosing a career until you are given a list of what there is to do in the world. I put a lot of time and effort into choosing the career I want the rest of my life. I found that a lot of my childhood was spent in hospitals. When I was there I made sure to make time to look at the babies in the nursery. My mind would come up with a ton of questions regarding their life, family, and health. This lead me to choose a career pathway in neonatal nursing. Neonatal nurse practitioners normally deal with babies who need immediate medical attention, but sometimes there are instances when that is not the case. I would like to become a neonatal nurse practitioner so I can apply my education and experience to better the newborns’ health and well-being.

I am interested in pursuing a career in nursing. A career that really interests me is a neonatal intensive care nurse. This is a type of nurse that works in a neonatal intensive care unit. These nurses often work with infants who were born prematurely, born with birth defects, or infants who are having critical complications during the first month after birth. Infants in the neonatal intensive care unit require constant monitoring and are often being treated for life threatening diseases. According to The National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN) approximately 40,000 infants are born each year in the United States needing specialized NICU care. NICU nurses are always present when a baby is being delivered so they can provide immediate

My dream is to become a neonatal nurse so I can directly aid in the treatment of infants born with a life-threatening illness,birth defects, and those put at risk from premature births. This is a cause close to my heart as my mother has worked with children who suffer from a plethora of birth defects for many years at Spring Creek Elementary School where I have had the pleasure to volunteer on many occasions. These children have their own personal battles that they fight every single day,they do it with smiles on their faces and love in their hearts and it's with the help of the medical staff that fought for them at birth that they are here today to share their love with the rest of the world. This is the nurse I intend to be.

My love for nursing began early in my life; in high school, my continuing desire to become a nurse resulted in my applying and being accepted to Midwestern State University. There, I received a BSN and became a registered nurse. My experience at Midwestern prepared me for a successful career by instilling confidence within me as I joined the workforce. As my experience grew and years went by, I became eager to further my education and pursue my master's degree. Then life happened: the two-legged version that requires love, compassion, energy, and time. Now that my child is in school, with the support of my family, I am ready and dedicated to become a family nurse practitioner.

I am passionate of becoming a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. I got inspired to work in this field when I interned at hospitals such as the Veterans and at Community Regional Center in the children's clinic. I have always worked with children and like being part of their lives. Ever since I volunteered at Storey Elementary After school Program with kids on their homework, it assured me that working with children is what makes me happy. I want to impacts others lives positively. I am serious about my career path and I take every advantage to learn more about it. Nursing has always been a dream of mine. My sister has just graduated nursing school and has now obtained her RN license and she loves being a nurse and helping people. I want to help adults too, but I want to mostly focus on working with premature and sick babies. I have a strong love for babies and small children and have always wanted to pursue a career in this field. Troy is known to have an outstanding nursing program, along with many other outstanding opportunities. I cannot wait to go to Troy and start working on my RN license to start my dream career as a nurse.

A little about myself, I am from Sugar Land, TX, and I am the first in my family to graduate from high school and attend a university. What led me to pursue a career in nursing was my youngest sister. She was born prematurely and with several health complications that would affect her for the rest of her life. She spent half of her childhood coming in and out from Texas Children’s Hospital, so I grew up surrounded by nurses. Witnessing those nurses aid my sister in attaining her

I am currently a Pre-nursing major and will be attending Indiana University Bloomington in the fall. My career aspirations are to get a bachelor’s degree in nursing and continue my education to become a midwife.

I am a nursing student. I have a great passion for caring for others. My short term goals are to graduate Riverland Community College with my Associate's Degree in Nursing this December. I plan to work very hard and prepare to take my nursing licensure exam at the beginning of next year to become licensed as a registered nurse. I will then transfer to Metropolitan State University to complete my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
