Abraham Lincoln : A Man Of Courage

Abraham Lincoln is by far our most revered president in the history of the United States. He had a strong moral vision of where his country must go to preserve and enlarge the rights of all her people, but he was also a good man with a strong sense of character and a great discipline in the art of law; and he sought to continue the great and mighty legacy of the Constitution. He believed that the Founding Fathers had drawn up the Constitution without the mention of slavery because they felt that it would later die of a natural death. He would soon learn that that would not be the case.

It is hard not to agree with David Herbert Donald in his biography of Abraham Lincoln. He does his best to not give his professional opinion of anything and only writes about the topics from which he has proof of. The main ideas that the author has throughout the text is greatly supported with Lincoln’s own papers and from written first-hand accounts of his generation. Donald accounts for the changes of position on slavery and the equality of blacks throughout his presidency. I think that this book is a great depiction of Abrahams Lincoln’s life.

Abraham Lincoln is a modern day hero because he is compassionate for abolishing slavery, freeing slaves from harsh environments in the confederacy, and his speech to prove equality among caucasians and african americans. His name was Abraham Lincoln, he was born on february 12, 1809. Abraham was born near hodgenville, kentucky. He is a husband to Mary Ann Todd Lincoln and a father to Edward, Wille, Thomas, and Robert. One of Abraham's accomplishments was successfully passing the 13th amendment, helping the union win the civil war, and influenced the north and south together. Abraham is an absolute hero because of the inspiration he is too many people.

Abraham Lincoln was a man of humble beginnings who, though self-taught, rose to greatness through the many leadership qualities that he possessed. Quality traits that Lincoln possessed were honesty, integrity and a great devotion towards the rights of the people. It was probably through his impoverished upbringing that he formed such a bond with common folks. Lincoln was able to show the country that an ordinary person, with strong character and integrity, was capable of inspiring others to greatness. Across time, political leaders have often been remembered for their greatness by how they faced challenges than with what particular skills or abilities they had during their time in office. This statement is known to be true as political leaders are often expected to solve certain issues or challenges when in office and if their contributions benefit the state or country. Additionally, history books, records, and scholarly journals will take note of a leader’s response to challenges, how they are handled, and if the issue is solved more than whether they adequately used certain skills and abilities to solve the problem. In short, challenges, when faced, allow the political leaders to be remembered more so than their talents.

Although he went through tragic events that did not stop him from learning or going after what he wanted. Lincoln was not an abolitionist. He was against slavery. Through his actions Abraham Lincoln showed that he was dedicated and trustworthy. By preserving the union he showed that he had his mind set on it. He gave speeches where he expressed his morals. Told people that he was against it, he was not afraid to have people disagree with him or hate him because of it. He said that truth because that is what he believed was right. People now a days see him as a hero or a great leader. Some are inspired by him. How he was so dedicated and hard working despite obstacles that life had thrown at him. His ability to control his emotions and his ability to communicate his goals these are traits of a great leader because communication is key being a leader, he was always in the public eye, he was a leader of the public he had to know how to communicate to them and hear them out, so he can meet their needs. He inspired people to speak up and work for what they may

Abraham Lincoln has been called the greatest president in all of American history. His principles were dedicated to the survival of the United States during one of the most gruesome and bloody wars in the country 's history, the American Civil War. During his presidency, he fought for the emancipation of slaves because he believed the institution of slavery was morally unjust. His ideals, which appealed to the founding principles of the country, "energized and mobilized" the union and kept it alive during the long months of the war. His leadership during those months changed the fairly new nation of America for the better.

Many argue that there was no other president that took office in more difficult times that Abraham Lincoln did. The day he was elected president a large part of the South had decided to secede as soon as they found out he has become president. To top it off, he lacked support from the North as well. Making his presidency difficult since the beginning.

Do you think of his devotion to the abolition of slavery? Abraham Lincoln contributed to more than one can imagine. He was the president of the United States during a time of colossal distress, the Civil War, and he paved the way for a great number of changes. Abraham Lincoln was a powerful figure who benefitted society by preventing the United States from splitting into two countries permanently, winning freedom for African-American slaves, and by setting a spectacular example for future presidents.

Lincoln’s early life. Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, in a log cabin in Hardin County Kentucky, to his parents Thomas Lincoln, and mother Nancy Lincoln. They moved around and eventually settled in the back-woods of Indiana. They lived in a small cabin in the back-country of Indiana. As said by biography.com, “where the family "squatted" on public land to scrap out a living in a crude shelter, hunting game and farming a small plot,” (“Abraham Lincoln biography”). Lincoln worked hard most of his life. A year after his mother’s death (Nancy Lincoln) he grew far apart from his father. His father then married a widow named Sarah Bush Johnston who encouraged Lincoln to read and write. He became very smart and walked long ways to find books to study, because of the short supply in the back-woods of Indiana.

“That some achieve great success, is proof to all that others can achieve it as well.” In other words Abraham Lincoln knew many were politically capable of showing achievements, and Abraham stated he may have come from a lower class family but with perseverance you can achieve it as well. Many were suspicious Lincoln will be a positive president, Abraham knew he could bring back prosperity to our nation, when our nation was going into burdensome situations, but with his proper guidance and determination our nation could unite as one again. I believe Lincoln did reunite our nation, with proper guidance. Abraham Lincoln has had an indisputable impact on American History, due to the First Continental Railroad, reuniting our Nations and the abolishment of slavery.

Nancy Lincoln gave birth to a son in Kentucky; the year of his birth was 1809. Her son was named as Abraham Lincoln. The vicinity of Ohio River was the place where they shifted when they faced some property issues. A disease started transmitting through milk in Indiana where they lived and due to that disease Abraham's mother died in 1819. Abraham didn't get any proper education in the early stages of his life due to their inadequacy to pay for the expenses of education. Despite of lack of education, he liked to read different books whenever he had the opportunity to do so. He studied by himself and took knowledge from the books which he used to read. A disease transmitting through milk started again in 1830 and du e to this disease, he and his family shifted to Illinois. After a couple of months he got employed at a company and his task was to transport goods to New Orleans from New Salem. During these years he also learned mathematics by reading books.

I would have to say that Abraham Lincoln I think is the best president greatest historical figure because, he ended the Civil War and ended slavery. Sadly, he was assassinated in 1865, by John Wilkes Booth. We are lucky he ended slavery or else we would still be in that mess. If I could I would visit his house and were he ended the Civil War. Without Lincoln's leadership, the south would have won and it wouldn't matter, slavery would still rule America, to be honest, I'm not sure how Abraham Lincoln was able to fit all of the papers that he did in that one hat and still keep them all organize. Over all, Abraham Lincoln interest me and I solute him for everything he's done for us.

In this paper, I will show how Lincoln used critical thinking to determine the root cause of that division, how his vision cemented the nation by a common cause through fundamental changes to the constitution, and how his compassion and prudence inspired loyalty among those who fought for union. I will also relate how the concepts behind Lincoln’s leadership behaviors apply to me today.
