I have three goals I would like to achieve during my time here at Auburn University Montgomery. One being that I would like to pass all my classes freshman year with an A. Secondly, I would like to be accepted in the Nursing program within two years of being here. Lastly, I would like to graduate with a Bachelor's in Nursing. Questions I have about achieving these goals include what are the actual in more detail requirements for the nursing program, how do I apply for the nursing program when I meet the requirements for it, and how would the classes I take now prepare me for it. I personally think my biggest challenge is to not procrastinate because even though I try not to it is a habit of mine that is really hard to break. My greatest strengths
My three goals for this course are as follows: to better understand the current legal and ethical climate of health care and specifically nursing, to be aware of that climate as I enter clinical, and to understand how I as a nurse can work to make the system more ethical. I chose these three goals, because they provide me with the opportunity to first learn about the current legal and ethical climate of nursing from an academic standpoint while examining how that knowledge translates to what I’m experiencing in clinical. My last goal is reflection-focused, and will allow me to take 5101 course content with me as I move forward as a professional nurse. I plan to accomplish these goals by being present in class preparation, lecture, and seminar,
Registered nurses work alongside physicians providing patient care in a variety of ways. A few examples of what nurses are responsible for include: administering medications, tracking patient’s vital signs, helping to diagnose and properly treat patient aliments and educating the patient and their family on their condition and the course of treatment. Depending on what area of medicine a nurse works in will determine more generalized and specific duties and responsibilities. There are many different areas a nurse may work in. Some areas include: obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, emergency room, and many more. Nurses can work in a variety of settings, these can include: hospitals, urgent cares, doctors office, nursing homes and home health.
I was born in a rural community in India. I always want to be the doctor to help & treat the people who are suffering from illnesses. My interest in health care was due to my father & my uncle. It was my father who suggested becoming a nurse. He & my uncle told me that the health care system could always use more nurses, as they were the backbone of patient care. He stated there were many areas of nursing I could practice in, however, if I wanted to play a larger role in the management and determining of patient care I should look into becoming a Family nurse practitioner. I believe that "Once you decide on your occupation, you must immerse yourself in your
I have a dream that one day I will get the joy of achieving my goals as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Where I will not “just” go because it is my job, but go because I have a sincere desire to go. I dream to have the satisfaction of helping others become fulfilled. I have high hopes to climb the ladder, to then open up my own facility. I have a dream that as I go to college I will not have to fret about money, but to focus on my grades. I have a dream that I will strive to do all I can to ensure my future me is at the best she can be. I have a dream that the place I call home will be as big as the Cinderella palace that I have always adored. I have a dream that my future off springs will be set for life, so they will never have to question
Nursing is a career which I believe that needs to come from the heart and I have at all times appreciated with respect. My aim in doing my education in nursing was because I always wanted to achieve an extended and successful profession in the health and medical field. I suppose the responsibilities of a nurse can be very demanding and frantic in certain instances but nothing can be equal to the joy and satisfaction it brings. There are many specialized areas in the field of nursing but I was particular interested in the mental health field. I have had a chance to experience mental healths nursing during one of my placements .There are a few goals which I would like to achieve within the next
I am currently in my second year of studies at Delaware County Community College. My major is Science for the Health Professions and my goal is to be enrolled in Thomas Jefferson University's Nursing Program by Fall 2017. My mother is currently a Registered Nurse. She has inspired me to fulfill this career and I aim to surpass her success and achieve my Masters Degree in Nursing rather than an Associate's. However, this past year has proven to be the most difficult in my efforts of achieving this dream of mine.
I am a nursing student. I have a great passion for caring for others. My short term goals are to graduate Riverland Community College with my Associate's Degree in Nursing this December. I plan to work very hard and prepare to take my nursing licensure exam at the beginning of next year to become licensed as a registered nurse. I will then transfer to Metropolitan State University to complete my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
The first goal that I had in preparation for this research course was to learn as much as I possibly could! I feel that I have reached this goal and then some! I definitely have a greater understanding of the different types of research studies that are done quantitative versus qualitative, what the Institutional Review Board (IRB) stands for. That only names a few of the important topics on research that I have learned while learning in this course. All of which have helped help me gain a better understanding of the process to conduct nursing research. One of the important pieces that I learned was gaining a better understanding of the process that is established to ensure the right documents are submitted and followed through. These are all important pieces that are set up to guarantee the information that is collected from the patients stays confidential (different than HIPPA). Additionally, I wanted to learn the whys behind why we do research. I feel after the weekly discussions as well as the different articles that we had to research I met this goal as well, but definitely will continue to investigate and continue to ask questions and ensure that we are using evidence based practice concepts to support our research practices. Nursing research “encourages all levels of nursing personnel to find answers to clinical questions and incorporate the findings into clinical practice (p43 article) My third and final goal was to
Unlike any other nursing programs, the Clinical Nursing Leader Program at UMD not only offer a degree in nursing, but it also prepares students for a leadership role in our societies. I want to be a nurse, but I also want to be a leader. Henceforth, a degree in CNL will better prepare me to reach my goal of becoming an advocate for our elderly populations. Especially those that suffer from neurodegenerative diseases. During the past few years that I worked as a Pharmacy Technician, I realized that many of our elderly do not have the appropriate support that they need when they leave the hospital. Most of them are usually readmitted in the hospital because of lack of support. Additionally, I believe that nurses are not only meant to cure individuals,
Becoming a nurse has always been an aspiration of mine, I’ve always wanted a job that uses my caring nature and becoming a nurse seems like the perfect fit. Any job can be rewarding but working in the medical field where you can help save lives, make differences and be supportive at a person’s time of need is at the top of my list when I think of a rewarding career. I am choosing this course because I love learning new things and with a nursing career no day will be the same as the day before, so you will constantly be learning new skills, plus there are many different areas of nursing that you can go in to, so this will enable me to put my skills that I already have in to use but also learn completely new things.
Before the age of eighteen, I had lived in three countries. My father’s career as a doctor and scientist of Military, Disaster & Extreme Medicine took my family throughout Kazakhstan, Russia, and the Ukraine. Although it was a challenge for me to continually adapt to new places and learn three languages, I am grateful for the cultural exposure that traveling provided me. In every new environment I was raised to treat others with equal respect and kindness regardless of any differences or similarities we may have had. This exposure has taught me that successful acclimation lies in the ability to interact well with people from diverse backgrounds. Here, in a country of immigrants, I have met people from countries all around the world. The Nursing field provides me the opportunity to help all people regardless of age, sex or ethnicity. I seek a Nursing degree here in the United States in order to increase my knowledge and to be able to practice in the field of professional nursing. My goal of becoming a Registered Nurse has long been encouraged by my personal interest in the profession and by my experience, previous education and achievements. These factors continue to motivate and inspire my desire to seek this degree and become a healthcare professional.
The common goals of nurses are to render quality-nursing care towards the patients. Nursing workforce consists of different quality of nurses, age groups, attitudes and behaviours. In order to expedite the goal successfully, the nursing workforce needs to work in unity to build an organized team. A team is important and a nurse needs to practice leadership to facilitate team processes, job satisfaction and work performance to accomplish clinical objectives of the organization.
My goal while in the program is to maintain the highest grade point average I can while learning and acquiring the skills to best care for my patients. I anticipate using this goal to help me successfully complete the final year I need in order to become a nurse. After having some experience in the career of nursing I have created a long term goal for myself to continue my education. I hope to achieve a Masters in Nursing, majoring in family nurse practitioner or teaching. This program will require an additional two years to complete. Future career plans include, working in both the hospital setting and a clinic designed for people of low to moderate income. Likewise, I want to be a host of health fairs to help people prevent, deal, and live
In order for the nurse to know if the patient is making any progress, the goals have to be measurable, observed, and recordable (Barrett, Wilson and Woodlands, 2012). Goals can be short term or long term depending on the patient’s needs, in order to achieve this, goals have to be to set for each actual and potential problem (Roper, Logan and Tierney, 1996). From the discussion with the patient the nurse was able to identify short and long term goals (Appendix 1). To set out the goals the nurse used the SMART criteria, which stand for specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time. Lloyd (2011) argues if SMART approach is not considered in patients plan of care then the care plan is highly unlikely to be successful. The nurse made sure
After successfully completing the capstone project for the MBA/MSN program, my interests in a position in healthcare administration has morphed into the desire for a career in nursing quality or research. This would be an excellent way to combine my past experiences with nursing knowledge. Prior to completing an accelerated Bachelor’s of Nursing, I worked as a laboratory research assistant at the University of North Dakota and studied the remodeling of lung epithelium. My focus was on conducting experiments, processing and recording data, and presenting results at weekly meetings. Although I was encouraged to conduct my own research, I was not passionate about the type of research that was being
