Since childhood, I have spent countless hours in a hospital due to various reasons which include: watching my younger brother’s gaping wound being sewed together, supporting my mother through her battle with cervical cancer, and battling my own battle of appendicitis. These experiences come with their differences; however, they all share the fact that for many hours I was surrounded by medical technicians that were always willing to try and assist in their best way possible. Through this, I have been inspired to pursue a career in nursing because I would one day like to contribute to individuals who need assistance, and also because I am squeamish when it comes grisly predicaments.

Van Gogh once said “your profession is what you’re put here on earth to do, with such passion and such intensity that it becomes spiritual in calling”. That is what nursing is to me. A passion that started early in life. During my senior year in high school, I completed the nursing assistant course over a holiday break in order to begin working as a certified nursing assistant at a local hospital and nursing home. I continued serving others, in this capacity, while I pursued higher education earning my Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Clarkson College. After graduation, I began my career as a Registered Nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital. Over the last nine years at Sacred Heart, my experience grew as a staff nurse on a Cardiology Step-down Unit,

Factors contributing to the application of a master's program in nursing are to intellectually challenge myself, broaden my scope of practice and comprehension as a registered nurse. I recently graduated with my bachelors in nursing and have worked as a registered nurse for close to seven years. I became a registered nurse to help people. I feel my nursing career has rewarded me personally each and everyday. When someone tells me "thank you" and appreciates my kindness and understanding I leave work feeling fulfilled. I would like the opportunity to continue to feel this way by enhancing my understanding of medicine. By becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner, I would be able to bridge between being a nurse and a physician. I would be able

Since starting my nursing career at Penn, my commitment to primary care across the lifespan has consistently been reaffirmed. While the accelerated nursing program has challenged me, I utilize outside resources when necessary while building upon proven personal strengths and learning strategies. This approach will help me succeed through the family nurse practitioner (FNP) fast track program and as I become a leader in my field. Because of my experiences, qualifications, and passion for primary care I believe I am uniquely eligible for the fast track program.
In high school I decided that I wanted to work in the medical field but it wasn’t until I was a freshmen in college that I had decided that nursing was the field in which I wanted to study. In College I had taken an anatomy and physiology class that had struck my interest and although I had some struggles in the class because of the amount of criteria there was to cover I spent extra time studying and talking with the professor but most of all I enjoyed it. There was so much about the human body that fascinated me which helped close my decision on becoming a nurse. Although I had applied and talked to a few colleges about their nursing programs there was something off about the people and the program. A friend of mine was hospitalized at Medical Center of the Rockies and after many visits with him I began to talk to some of his nurses among the most caring was a girl who had graduated from Colorado Christian University. She had a smile on her face the entire time and never
As a young adult entering the challenging yet beneficial study of nursing, I need a school that will meet all of my requirements and provide even more as well. I know that the University of Pittsburgh will grant an experience in different aspects of nursing at countless different hospitals. I also understand that the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center is one of the best hospital systems in the world. As a Pittsburgh native, I know the reputation of UPMC, but I have experienced the center first hand as a girl who lives every day with congential heart disease. All three of my open heart surgeries took place at Children’s Hospital and I am grateful each and every day for the nurses working there who saved my life. The experiences I had at
I’ve lived a life of happiness and joy, and have had the distinct pleasure of being inspired by my surroundings. As simplistic as it sounds, my family has inspired a path for my future and it is now time I walk it. I come from a family of health care professionals specializing in various fields, everything from pediatricians, nurses, dentists, orthopedists, and surgeons, to primary care physicians. I have learned that there are many roads to choose from in life, but I feel as though I have always known the road I would take, well up until this very moment.
I plan on attending a four year college to become a nurse and will then go about two extra years to become a nurse practitioner. I want to be able to help others become better in the future which influenced my decision for my future career. I would also like to continue volunteering whenever I can. I would especially like to continue volunteering with the Racine County Conservation League, as I enjoy the work I get to do with that organization.
Nursing is not only a profession, but it is an opportunity to provide compassion and support for those in need. I realized that nursing called upon me when I came across a heartwarming, yet rewarding experience. On a few occasions, I served breakfast to the children and their families coping with illness at the Ronald McDonald House. Interacting with these children developed my appreciation for the medical field. Despite the challenges that I may face while in this nursing program, I will be honored to deliver the best possible care to patients. I will be able to manage the stress that comes along with unpredictable clinicals and taxing homework due to my patience. I am determined to overcome the conflicts that are involved in obtaining my Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing because of my interest in this field.
From a young age, I was drawn to the healthcare field, not because the amount of money doctors, nurses or other health professionals made, but because of the dedication and commitment I saw on their faces helping someone in need. As a little child becoming a doctor or a nurse was the ideal profession my parents wanted for me. I had high hopes that one day I would become a nurse. However, that dream came to a halt, when I decided to pursue other endeavors within the healthcare field. Spring 2015, my first year of nursing school was not as successful as I anticipated.
I possess a great amount of admiration for the Nurses who work diligently to aid their patients. My upbringing inspired me to pursue Nursing career wherein I witnessed many of my relatives die owing to shortage of hospitals or affordability of the medicines and treatment. My rationale derives from my personal experience that the difference effective nursing and medication can accomplish. Also having prior experience of working as a student nurse; I am aware of how challenging and demanding it can be. Likewise there are rewards that come from working with the children and being able to help in their crucial times in order to make a positive difference.
The leaders of nursing throughout history have shaped not only the practice of the nursing, but also entrance to the profession via, Diploma, Associates Degree and Bachelors Degree programs. While multiple avenues exist to gain entry into the nursing profession as a Registered Nurse (RN), not all nurses are equally prepared for a professional career in nursing. An aging Baby Boomer generation entering into retirement relying more heavily on the healthcare system, will create a greater demand not only for Registered Nurses with Bachelors Degrees, but furthermore for those RNs with advanced post-graduate degree education to be
