Advantages And Disadvantages Of Autocratic Government

The challenges that are faced by different forms of government such as, republics and democracies, versus that of autocratic governments are completely different, and with a topic like foreign policy, formulating a plan would be done two different ways. In a democratic republic type of system , representatives are voted in by the public to then put their ideas forward to help create policy ideas for the country, including a plan for foreign policy with the goal being to obtain security and peace for the country. On the other hand, there are autocratic forms of government. This is when one person has absolute power that can not be checked, an example of this would be countries such as North Korea or Cuba. Both of these systems face different challenges in reaching security for their country and being able to live peacefully. Challenges are faced on both sides, but vary in specifics. In a democracy there are issues of the time in which things can actually be accomplished due to things such as terms and overall term limits for positions such as president. The autocratic government has someone in power who serves as long as they wish or until death. Democracies do however benefit from their increased amount of stability in their country versus that of an autocratic country. Autocratic governments can lack stability because they are oppressing their people and this can lead to an uprising if they are not able to obtain the loyalty of their people.
