5. E-cigarette Manufacturers:-
The manufacturers of e-cigarettes, encompassing traditional tobacco companies and e-cigarette entrepreneurs, naturally want to increase revenue and attract new consumes, including, critics would say, non-smokers and even young people. And the fewer laws and rules there are, of course, the more scope is granted to the manufacturers marketing and advertising activities. E-Cig is treated differently from conventional combustible cigarettes, and thus e-cigarettes are not going to be regulated as heavily and extensively as conventional cigarettes. For example, advertising of e-cigarettes is not banned, and neither is Internet sales or flavored products. Accordingly, there should be more investment, development, production, and marketing of the product.
Obviously, there is criticism of the product – even if it is mostly, it appears, legal. Yet e-cigarette manufacturers and other proponents of e-cigarettes counter such criticism by saying their product is safe and a better alternative to “real” cigarettes because there is no tobacco or combustion or smoke involved. E-cigarettes also represent a very lucrative business opportunity for the established tobacco companies as well as

If more heavily e-cigarettes are regulated and taxed by the government the more difficult it will be for the smaller new e-cigarette companies, such as V2Cigs, to enter the market and be successful since the larger tobacco companies are so well established, possess substantial market share, and have more marketing capability, as well as lobbying and political “clout” with legislators and regulators. Conversely, the less the government interferes in the e-cigarette market, the greater the possibility of the smaller companies gaining and expanding their market share, thereby enhancing competition, lowering prices, and attracting even more users to the
Theoretically,(2) frequently advertised,(3) and commonly assumed by users,(4-12) this process avoids the harmful byproducts of combustible tobacco. Moreover, users cite considerable financial savings(4,5) using e-cigarettes over combustible cigarettes – i.e. $846 per year compared to $2190.(13) E-cigarettes are often marketed as a way to beat public smoking restrictions,(3) and users frequently claim this as one reason for consumption.(5,14)
The profitable business of electronic cigarettes has raised over $3 Billion dollars annually, vastly spread across over 466 brands which have joined the ordeal. Above all, known as a “gateway drug”, electronic cigarettes have claimed the once-ordinary lives of people, specifically to those who have turned from tobacco cigarettes. What is more, scientists have determined that not enough research has been executed to automatically assume the healthiness of e-cigarettes. Despite this, many have claimed that e-cigarettes, are, and will be the new “healthy” drug, so to speak. Provided that e-cigarettes do not release harmful smoke, they are still not safe for one’s health given that not enough research has been performed on them.
“ The true face of smoking is disease, death and horror – not the glamour and sophistication the pushers in the tobacco industry try to portray ”. – David Byrne. Smoking has been an habit in teenagers and adults for a very long time and it is well known that it is harmful for them as well for the environment. Technology has advanced, and now there are electronic cigarettes, called E-cigarette, which are devices with battery that carry nicotine heated aersosol in a fashion that imitates common cigarettes, while carrying lower levels of toxins than a conventional lit cigarette. They can be used indoors, which allows smokers to get their fix wherever and whenever they want. A study from NBC News (Leshae) shows that electronic cigarettes are a technique for smokers to try quitting their addictions. Manufacturers consider that e-cigarattes are healthier than normal tobacco cigarattes, since smokers are inhaling vaporized nicotine rather of carcinogen-filled smoke. However, according to a Thomas Jefferson University Alumni article, some reseachers have found harmful ingredients in certain e-cigarettes, such as ethylene glycol poisoning, a primary ingredient in brake fluid and antifreeze. E-cigarettes mey seem like a healthier alternative to traditional cigarettes, nevertheless there is some research that proves the contrary and we still don’t know its long term effect.
As with other such technologies, e-cigarettes don’t neatly fit into regulatory niches. The federal government is struggling to understand how to regulate e-cigarettes and, sadly, is on the verge of making a harmful first step with the FDA’s proposed rules. E-cigarettes are not tobacco products and should not be regulated as such E-cigarettes are a boon for public health because they help smokers quit using cigarettes
The article “To regulate or not to regulate? Views on electronic cigarette regulations and beliefs about the reasons for and against regulations” brought forward on the regulation of vapes and electronic cigarettes. This article shows studies that were taken through online polling of adults from Amazon mechanical Turk. The polls took place in May of 2015. Overall the article is about whether to or not to regulate electronic cigarettes or vapes. As most people disagreed with most of the reasons to not regulate the vapes, most did agree with one idea that should be implied if the regulation of vapes and e-cigs “electronic cigarettes” continued. That was if they continued to be regulated then a label warning exclaiming that the products contain nicotine should be added to all devices and products that go along with it.
Today the biggest question is, “Are they harmful?” Electronic Cigarettes are being tested and thoroughly examined to identify the helpful and hazardous effects they may have. Most importantly, they are being compared to traditional cigarettes to determine whether or not they are a safe alternative for smokers. According to the Food and Drug Administration, there are trace amounts of toxic and carcinogenic ingredients found in several cartridge samples of e-cigarettes. The FDA tried to regulate them as drug delivery devices; however, a federal judge ruled in 2010 that it lacked such authority, so the FDA is currently moving to regulate them as tobacco products (Feldman, 2014).
Smoking, one of America's favorite pastimes, has fallen under constant fire from legislators who are contending that electronic cigarettes are not only as harmful as their non-electric counterparts, but that the former ought to be regulated as tobacco products. The cases made upon either side stand firm, though legislators find themselves splitting hairs defining upon what is and is not a tobacco product, with vaporizers being such intricate pieces of technology, with only portions of which contain nicotine. The case against the vaporizer stands that while they help users of traditional tobacco kick the habit, they leave an addiction to nicotine, fueling the economy of the vaporizer instead of that of big tobacco. While many will denounce
On the contrary to the general concept and motif behind the production of e-cigarettes, several studies have proven that these electronic devices that were created as an unassailable and riskless alternative to derail and overcome one’s cigarette addiction and dependency, happen to be equally as harmful and destructive as the nicotine infused drug. Maria Mironidou Tzouveleki, Evanthia Tzitzi, and Panagiotis Tzitzis stated “The vapour of e-cig contains toxic and dangerous substances as the smoke of conventional cigarette but in different quantities.” (Mironidou Tzouveleki, Tzitzi, 2015, p. 235.) Ever since e-cigarettes made their debut in the market back in 2003, researches had their doubts and implications about this particular substitutive
According to the Center for Disease Control, 480,000 Americans die every year from deaths related to cigarette smoking. This costs the public over $300 billion. Have you ever wondered about alternatives to this habit? Have you ever wondered “what exactly is an e-cigarette?” Where did they originate? Does it pose a threat to health? Yes, we know that it is an alternative to cigarette smoking, but what is the big rave about this small device that has the center of attention for smokers? Today we will expand on the history and the science of e-cigarettes, and understand if there are any health factors to consider. We will also look into the legal considerations for e-cigarettes.
Does the benefits of electronic cigarettes out way the potential side effects of their use?
The 460 brands of e-cigarettes come in over 7,000 flavors. Critics say it is an attempt to get children to start smoking. The children of today will be the creators of the future. Unfortunately, studies prove that cigarettes, as well as e-cigarettes, shorten lives. Who would be in charge of our economy if children decided to start smoking now and risk their lives? Basically, if every child decided to smoke e-cigarettes there may not be a future. Due to the fact that e-cigarettes do not have restrictions on their sales, children and adolescents are allowed to purchase these devices without a drivers license or state ID.
Electronic cigarettes have became extremely popular almost overnight it seems. These devices have worked their way into people’s everyday lives and are continuing to get even more popular. E-cigs are so popular because they do not have near as many chemicals as cigarettes, one can pick the flavor of their liking, and the smoke does not stink as traditional tobacco cigarette smoke does. In most places e-cigarette shops have been opened and are now selling regulated devices. In a battle between cigarettes and e-cigs, e-cigs are winning in sales and in popularity. Smoking is a dangerous habit causing countless problems in society; however, to curb this trend, smokers may resort to electronic cigarettes, as they help people stop smoking tobacco, promote better health, and satisfy their nicotine addictions.
Imagine if there were an alternative to smoking cigarettes. Imagine this alternative could help millions of people quit smoking and comes with only a fraction of the harmful chemicals that cigarettes do. The electronic cigarette or e-cigarette was created in 2003 by a Chinese pharmacist. It works by heating a liquid until it turns into vapor which is then inhaled. Since its creation, it use has grown exponentially worldwide. Its use in the US, however, was not regulated by the FDA until August 2016. This regulation deemed e-cigarette devices to be tobacco products, which means it must comply with all the rules that tobacco products do such as, marketing, labeling and companies must register and comply with FDA regulation. This makes the production
As stated by Eleanor Roosevelt, “One 's philosophy is not best expressed in words; it is expressed in the choices one makes... and the choices we make are ultimately our responsibility.” Everybody has a myriad choices in life. Some choices are better than others, and some are the worst choices one could have possibly chosen. The choices of one may work in one’s favor, or one’s choices may work in contrariety of one’s goals altogether. Electronic cigarettes, also called e-cigarettes or e-cigs, are an alternative choice to smoking actual cigarettes. Whether e-cigarettes should be regulated is a controversial topic among the people of the world today. A few people withhold the beliefs that electronic cigarettes should not be regulated as regular cigarettes are. It is possible that they believe that the regulation will lead to the prohibition or cease of smoking wholly. However, speaking as a candor person, one may say that these people are blind to the potential harms that the lack of regulation could create and that the lack of regulation may actually be causing electronic cigarettes to work in opposition of the purpose they are mostly used for. E-cigarettes are proven to not to have the same detrimental effects as regular cigarettes, however they are potently harmful, with different and serious consequences. The regulations would not be banning electronic cigarettes; the regulations are working to protect the health and well-being of everyone.
E-cigarette is believed to greatly reduce on the health effects associated with tobacco smoking. However, e-cigarette has been criticized as a leading cause of smoking among the youth due to its flavor as well as its novel appearance and campaigns. It is also believed to pose some health risks. Despite such drawbacks, e-cigarette has recently gained a lot of popularity and subsequent growth.
