Q1.
(a) A null hypothesis suggests that there isn’t any effect on the case. The null hypothesis for this research would be that there is no difference in the psychological wellbeing of people who travel a long distance to work than the psychological wellbeing of someone who only travels a short distance to work.
(b) An alternative hypothesis suggests that there is an effect on the case. The alternative hypothesis for this research would be that there is a difference between the psychological wellbeing of people who travel a long distance to work than the psychological wellbeing of someone who only travels a short distance to work.
Q2.
An independent variable is the variable that will have an impact on the dependant variable. For this research

(a) Three advantages for Niamh taking a survey approach (quantitative research) are:
1. You can learn about a large amount of research data from a large amount of people without spending much money.
2. The data needed can be collected quickly as the questions asked on a questionnaire would usually be quite straight forward or just ticking boxes

(a) Demand characteristics are things outside of the experiment that may influence the participants behaviour. When people are being studied they may be a little bit nervous or have their guard up a bit and this could influence the study or lead it to be biased. Participants may also alter their behaviour to fit what their idea of the experiments purpose is.
(b) A demand characteristic that may have an effect on Niamhs research could be Social Desirability. Because the project being carried out is concerned with peoples’ psychological wellbeing this may lead people to lie in their answers. A person’s psychological wellbeing is a very personal thing and it is sometimes looked down on in society for someone to be unhappy or depressed. A lot of people might be embarrassed or ashamed to admit that they are unhappy so their answers may not accurately reflect their real feelings or
An experiment could be devised in which bats are taken in a large quantity and one
Dependent variables are ones that change due to the independent variable. Independent variables are variables that can be manipulated or measured. This influences the dependent variables.
* Independent variable coefficient – This is the measured effect the independent variables have on the dependent variable. This is the main output of the regression analysis.
Step 1: During this step of hypothesis testing, the query is stated again as a research theory and a null theory regarding the populations. The null and research hypothesizes are the opposites of each other. This step is necessary because it explains the theory and recognizes the populations, which will be worked throughout the study.
Select one (1) project from your working or educational environment that you would use the hypothesis test technique. Next, propose the hypothesis structure (e.g., the null hypothesis, data collection process, confidence interval, test statistics, reject or not reject the decision, etc.) for the business process of the selected project. Provide a rationale for your response.
c) What is the null and alternative hypothesis? Do the data results lead you to reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis?
Explain how the data collected will provide the data necessary to support or negate the hypothesis or proposition
For the following research questions, create one null hypothesis, one directional research hypothesis, and one non-directional research hypothesis.
In an experimental research, the use of a research question answers the thesis statement that enables one to research about a problem (Yin, 2013). From the experiment, the research question can be clearly stated as “which vaccine is more effective for preventing getting the flu”. In this case, the problem being researched about is the flu the possible solutions to this problem which the use of vaccines is being analyzed. The null hypothesis of this experiment states that there is no effective vaccine for preventing getting the flu while the alternative hypothesis states that there is an effective vaccine for preventing getting the flu.
Psychological research may be undertaken on a subset of society; however the importance of the results may have an effect way beyond the group tested. The value of psychological research varies and the same results can be used in different ways by different groups of society.
My research topic is Hmong parents have lower expectation for their children with disabilities compared to children without disabilities. My hypothesis is do Hmong children with disabilities receive lower expectation from their parents than his or her siblings without disabilities in terms of education or in life? My theory is that Hmong parents have lower expectation for their children with disabilities compared to children without disabilities through various research studies available. From the research studies that I found, Hmong parents do have lower expectation for their children with disabilities compared to children without disabilities. Specifically educational goal, some parents reported to have no educational goal for their children
Independent: The independent variable in the following experiment is the temperature as it is what is being changed and will impact the overall outcome of the experiment.
There are a number of methods of collecting data, some of them are – questionnaire, surveys, checklists, interviews, observations, focus group etc (Cordray, 1986; Einhorn and Hogarth, 1986).
The strength of questionnaires is it can give an insight into respondent’s thoughts and opinions and also cost efficient as it is inexpensive.
The null hypothesis suggests that there is no difference between the means of the three samples, while the claim in the alternative hypothesis suggests that at least one mean is different.
