2.5 DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION CONSTRAINTS
i) The global schema, fragmentation schema, allocation schema. ii) SQL commands for above queries/applications iii) How the response for application 1 and 2 will be generated. Assuming these are global queries. Explain how various fragments will be combined to do so. iv) Implement the database at least using a centralized database management system.
2.6 ASSUPMTION DEPENDENCIES
Let us assume that this is a distributed airline database system and it is used in the following application: ● A request for booking/cancellation of flight from any source to any destination, giving connected flights in case no direct flight between the specified Source-Destination pair exist. ● Calculation of high fliers (most frequent fliers) and calculating appropriate reward points for these fliers. Assuming both the transactions are single transactions, we have designed a distributed database that is geographically dispersed at four cities Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkatta as shown in fig.2 above.
3. SYSTEM FEATURES
● DESCRIPTION AND PRIORITY The airline reservation system maintains information on flights, classes of seats, personal preferences, prices and bookings. Of course this project has high priority because it is very difficult to travel
# 6: Given a physical database containing tables and relationships and business requirements, create the necessary queries.
languages also support the ability to embed and use the results of SQL queries. The
According to Fortune 500 (2015), Delta airlines is the largest airline in the world today and is able to fly to 567 worldwide destinations in over 100 countries. Delta airlines owns and operates its own reservations system and data and they give the employees stock in the company with profit sharing and stock ownership. One weakness of Delta airlines is the relying on it 's much older refurbished airplanes. Since oil prices are low they are able to save on costs but that could change if they oil prices increase again. US Airways has merged with American Airlines and the two have since become the world 's largest airline but both have since faced losses since the 2008-2009 economic crisis. US Airways has also had poor customer service
The airline industry operations depend largely on the usage of technology, appropriate IT infrastructure should be considered. Technology makes this industry accessible through the usage of the internet from booking the ticket, online check in and using the Wi-Fi online. The domestic operations on the SAA have not match up with the usage of Wi-Fi on air.
The new reservation and booking system is a horizontal application because a large number of people use it in several markets such as the food, airline, camping, and hotel industries, whereas small organization is more appropriate for a vertical application that have specific business processes
Database system design can be extremely time-consuming as it takes sophisticated software to create and control it. The design process becomes less user-friendly as it takes a more extensive knowledge of how to use it. The standard of an excellent database is one, which is complete, integral, simple, understandable, flexible and
The technology to communicate between the airlines is available and the customers do expect that the airlines share their passenger information for connecting flights.
The goal of this project was to take a public database of airline flights, select a
Since the enormous breakthrough of aviation, early in the 20th century, commercial airlines have been playing the most part of our sky. One of the oldest, successful, and known airlines is the American Airlines. Today, this airline carries more fleet than any other airline in the entire world, which makes it solidly one of the biggest names in the aviation industry.
This section contains the software requirement to a level of detail sufficient to enable designers to design the system and testers to test the system. 3.1 3.1.1 EXTERNAL INTERFACES USER INTERFACES The following screens will be provided: (i) LOGIN SCREEN This will be the first screen to be displayed. It will allow user to access different screen based upon the user’s role. Various fields available on this screen will be : (a) User ID : Alphanumeric upto 10 characters (b)
The next level of decision-making in British Airways is the Operational decision, which uses an information system tool knows as: Transaction Processing Systems (TPS) Process control system
Over the past years, customers have been heavily relying on airline reservation systems to book their tickets, reserve seats, pay for the tickets and also check-in online. For customers, this has been a very convenient method and they are able to easily plan their trips. For the Airline companies, these systems have the whole flight inventory managed. They have all the flight information stored and records are maintained. It also provides a platform for communication between other airline companies for their “code-sharing plans” and
One of the world’s most competitive and prominent industries is the airlines industry. It generates huge amounts of income as well as employment each year. Some of the common names in US air travel service providers are Alaska, Northwest, Southwest, US airways, American etc.

The airline industry has been around for years, it has suffered its ups and downs due to attacks such as the one that occurred in September 11, and even most recent as the Paris attack that occurred this past year. Major Airlines have suffered a decline in their profitability which has forced many airlines to file for bankruptcy. However, when bad times hit an industry some companies are forced to quit, while others are forced to change their strategy and continue moving forward.
